A Few Pairs of Parallels
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This was an interesting experiment for the Friday theme. I did initial sharpening and rule-of-thirds trimming in my camera's ZoomBrowser EX utility. I switched to The Gimp for a slight rotational correction, sizing, a second pass of sharpening with the Light-and-Shadows plug-in, an auto layers adjustment, a slight levels adjustment, and then desaturation using the luminosity setting as the basis. |

Hi Jim,
This is a good example of depth of focus, f11 has everything sharp from fore to background.
I feel it would be improved greatly if the rather bland sky was cropped down to just above the pylon.
Lots of 'parallels' for the theme, well done.
Peter.
Hello Jim,
Well, yes: black and white can be the solution if you want to "soften" the effect of rather flat skies ;o). I agree with Peter about the sky being nevertheless still too predominant. I also have the impression the photo (still) isn't level (see the silos and the left pylon). A pity, because "structure" is the main feature of this minimalistic picture.
But let's end in a positive way: I think you rendered the quintessence of this rural area, made of space and (parallel) lines. Moreover, black & white indeed was an appropriate choice to express the "soul" of this Wisconsin "piece of countryside".
TFS & kind regards,
Erik

Good shot Jim
And there is so much to see here and I like the repetition of the 'pairs'.
Well seen and captured, and especially in B&W

Ciao Jim
I love this picture,
because I like to see these rolls of hay
around the field. I think this is beautiful!
Your photo has a beautiful setting in
image, and you made good use of b / w here.
Greetings!
Sergio
