This is my contribution for the Big/Little Theme.
This past Thanksgiving I spent 3 cold days with my parents and my sister at the lake. The big lump, just behind my brother-in-law is the wood we had to burn in three days. Now that pile was 10 feet long and about 2-3 feet high.

So you know my niece had her stick because every kid in the world is fascinated with fire, I know I was a little "fire-bug"! I always had my stick in the fire! I caught my brother-in-law and my niece one morning as they started the fire up for the day. The sun was rising over the lake and I just loved the silhouette I saw here!

Hope you all have a great day and lets get in the Christmas spirit!!
B-)

I like the simpleness of this image, shapes and backlight only..
Really nice shot..

My boys love throwing burning sticks of wood around - I need buckets of water around the place when they're doing their 'firebug' thing!!

Linda,
I wanted to email you today but as your intro mentioned....you removed the contact option. Dag nab it! lol I have a question for you! will you email me please??? Thanks. Terry
As for this photograph...I love it! Being a beach girl and raising my kids by the beach....needless to say we had many moments like this one....bonfires at sunset....the best!

A sweet and tender image you have captured Linda.
The smoke adds a really nice effect, excellent use of the back lighting.
Well done.

Hi Linda,
The father and kid scenes are always moving for me! You composed very nicely this image with the imaginary diagonals between thirds. I love this backlit lightly tinted of blue and the rendered of the smoke over the lake! And your subject is a very good interpretation of the theme!
My compliments! Annie

Excellent photo, Linda! It's very poetic, but the other side, simple composition. Minimalistic colours underline that effect. I pay homage to you!
Ewa :)

Hi Linda,

What a perfect way to start the day - I'm sure your niece was having too good a time to mind the cold.
Wonderful moment - a treasure.

Hi Linda,
Lovely family portrait fot this Firday's theme in the dim light. Contrast is still good, nice scene from the lakeside. It looks like a calm place, perfect for relaxation and getting closer to mother nature. Well composed picture, thanks for posting. Have nice weekend and Christmas preparations! :)
Friendly greetings,
Kristof

HI Linda,

With her cute little pose, and holding the big stick, I think she may have inherited a little from her Aunt Linda! She looks adorable. I love the blue tones in the photo. No matter the time of day, blue in photos is peaceful to me. Also the brother in law, stack of wood, all tell a story without words. Nice addition to the theme.

Lisa

Hi Linda - I do like the silhouettes here - you can interpret a lot from them without the need to see clear expressions, very cool indeed. I'd personally prefer a crop in from the left - or maybe if you'd panned right a little - as it all looks a wee bit central to me. But the colour is good, the sense of interaction works very well and it's just a "nice feeling" shot.

Hello Linda
hope things are fine at your end, and you must be in festive mood, merry X-Mas to you and uour family.
wonderful shot
ecellent use of defused light here
good timing,
cute and emotional shot.

Hi Linda

The blue & black colours go well together here. Superb silhouettes & graphism of the family outing. Good sharpness, & have a fantastic Christmas!

The reflective effect on the rippled water is making this shot very interesting to show the light+shadow property in the exposure setting and causing almost silhouette to the pair.

Looks like a thin screen of smoke in the air?

I would think a slight crop off the left space will enhance the composition but still, this is a fine shot.

tfs, bill

Hello Linda,

I find this very appealing because of the subject but I am also fascinated by the blue tones. It looks great. Then, in the middle, there is the hint of smoke which interprets the idea of fire!
Great!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
