My first fall colors adventure in Bishop Creek Canyon was a magical one. Bishop Creek Canyon is about 30 minutes west of the city of Bishop in the Eastern Sierras of California. The first couple weeks in October is the prime time to visit. Numerous groves of aspen are bursting with vibrant yellow and reds.
For this shot I used a circular polarizer to increase the shutter time and to saturate the yellows. My cameras auto WB function was tricked by the brightly colored trees and chose a very cool WB causing the water to take on a blue cast. Via PP in Capture NX (RAW) and CS2 I was able to reduce the blue cast to a satisfactory level. |

Superb image Mike, perfect exposure and wonderful autumn colours.
Regards Mark :)
Hi Mike,
Super shot, almost 3D, the tree colours seem to project themselves and lovely water movement in the foreground.
All the best for Christmas and the new year.
Lovely shot and good use of polarizer.Good job.
Warm regards
David
Hi Mike,
I love the wide angle of this photo. You're really drawn in by the movement of the water. The fall color spectacle of the Aspen is awesome. But is it me, is the photo tilted to the right?

Ahhhhhhh I remember this spot - really good job on the water (both color and motion) as it headed under the bridge. I'm thinking what that location would look like today. Brrrrr.
