[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I did a picture of Mark and Ross last week called "Bookends". There was a lot of interest in Mark's look and interest in seeing more of him. Coincidentally I ran into him again and sat down with him to show him the comments from the first picture...he was genuinely amazed at the perception of the comments and pleased with the sensitivity of the notes.

Mark has been through a lot and it shows. You can see by his features that he is a man with a great deal of history.

Many of the people I have photographed follow this website now and look at the comments. It has been uplifting to them to read what people see in their faces and phtographs.

As you can see from my latest postings, the 85mm lens is not my favorite but I have had to use smaller apertures. I don't like the effect of part of the pictures being out of focus so I am staying at least F3.5 and usually higher.

One more great shot, Roger. Very nice expression of Mark´s face and great details. I also like your POV, Roger. Excellent done. TFS, my friend!

Grande abraço,
Bruno

I can see! And I can see his history too! Unmistakable to those of us who have been there too! A gorgeous picture Roger! And I love the inclusion of the hands in this shot! I love how he is NOT smiling, because now I can focus on his eyes. Tell him he is not alone! God doesn't not have any grandchildren!
BW Works awesome here! Nice work Roger!

Good morning Roger
A face that shows a strong character, something needed to survive what life deals us. I love the wrinkled brow combined with the joined hands, the eyes gives a look of will you be there for me once again.
Dot
Thank you very much for the tutorial on the previous black white shot.

Hi Roger,
I think technically you did a perfect job again with your 85 mm lens. The black and white tones of this portrait look great as usual. His look really tells us smething. Great portait shot, Roger, TFS!

Kristof

ps - how did you set up your lighting for this one?

Hi Roger,,

Nice pose and nice expression on his face..
the lighting and the sharpness are perfect..
Very good one my friend..well done.

TFS,

CM

Looks like an interesting guy with a very great expression.
How does the 5D mark II work? I heard good things and less good things about it... what's your opinion? Would love to buy it.
David

I am glad you're showing us more of Mark, as his face and expression are like the trunk of a tree - it shows you what the passing of time left behind.
I like that you included his hands into the portrait - I think hands tell a lot about a person and they're often either portrayed alone or neglected.
his skeptical look seem to me to reveal someone who doesn't have to please the other (in this case the photographer or the viewer) just because he's been asked to pose for a portrait, and I like this a lot.

Hi Roger!

Perfect! Again as usually! :-) Thanks!

Regards from the Netherlands,
Edward

These portraits are sensational, Roger. I am just totally impressed by them. This one is so perfectly composed, perfect light and contrast, mind boggling detail. I love that direct, easy gaze Mark has and that wonderful catchlight in his eyes. And whatever history he may have, he still seems to be a gentle person. Beautifully done. My great congratulations and much respect,
Shelly
