I have no idea whether I processed this right, all I know is that I had a lot of fun doing it! This is a police car, on display at the Kemah Boardwalk in front of a Babin's Restaurant.
I added a heavy Gaussian blur to the BG and then the FG and blended, after clarifying 20 points.

Yesterday I talked with a friend on the phone and it's so nice to be able to communicate in ways OTHER than face to face. Sometimes I think face to face isn't all it's cracked up to be. There are too many re-conceived notions, judgments and visual distractions. There was a time when I would not talk to a boy, unless he was cute! Think of all the interesting things I missed out on! I also refused to talk to anyone who was an adult, how DULL!! Down here in the South, if you weren't of the same social class or skin color, you were often passed over. Unfortunate!

Today, because of the internet, I can chat with a friend in Japan...or a friend in Canada...or a friend in Georgia. I can't see them, they can't see me, so what comes into play is almost a "psychic" connection. I have to LISTEN harder or read better! I can't see their face, so I am forced to use other facilities to understand. How cool is that? One day I hope to sit face to face and look into their eyes, to give them the biggest hug ever, but today, I am here, they are there. All I can give is verbal ((((hugs)))).

I guess what is so easy is that our relationship is "safe". At any given moment, if one becomes angry or uncomfortable, all is needed is to walk away from the screen. Or turn off the phone. Miles can feel safe. Sometimes, that is the best way to communicate, until trust is earned. YES,.....trust is EARNED. I no longer give it away. I no longer trust because someone says, "Trust me"...no, I have to experience it, over time.

It takes a while to form a strong bond. It's often born of mutual feelings, experiences and needs. So how does this happen? How does a girl, who was born into a small family, with a Black and white TV, a small Philco radio, no internet, no computer, no cell phone, no blackberry, grow up to have friends on the other side of the country, or the other side of the Earth in such a short amount of time? There are no coincidences, there is something bigger at work. It's like a treasure hunt...I'm finding diamonds everywhere I
turn, if I am just willing to see.
I'll be gone a few days, so you guys behave!
((((hugs))))
Linda

Wow Linda, i feel like given you my 2 points today just for reading your note , not that i ain't interested in critiquing your image , no no i just feel so good about your lines , so true ,i admire your good sense of humour and great way of thinking.! Well said Dear .
Oh yes about the picture, hi hi , absolutely the blur has eliminated the distractions so the viewer gets fully concentrated on the car and its nice features , looks HDR to me , sure like your PP a lot, this was real nice police car in its era , a vintage year for this beauty, i wonder though how old it is , anyway it was kept very well maintained obviously , well delivered and
Girl you're real cool ,
keep it up ,
Carol

Hello Linda,I couldn't be sure....had you started with a small car and made it look bigger, or had you started with a large car and made it look smaller????
Now I know the answer.
Excellent PP work. All the details are so clear and sharp.
Good PoV.
Tfs,regards Jean.

Interesting PP work here Linda. Noticed an article in a recent Photography on how to do this - have to reread and give it a try.
Have a good mini vacation, see you on the other side.

Not necessarily a vehicle that I'd want to be "transported" in but a fun and interesting shot nonetheless.
I like your treatment here, a lot.
Good work, good idea.
Thanks,
Wilt

Hi Linda
Lovely old Mini police car.
Good sharp details.
I like the blur you gave the BG, but not sure about the FG. IMO I would have left it as it was, as it seems to blur the front to the car a little.

Thanks for joining the theme
regards
Tracey

i tried this technique once but i can't remember the software i used. i think this worked well as i thought it was a toy car.tfs

Hi Linda,
Great shot, I really like the way you processed this picture. Nice shine and glow off the car with excellent placement and angled in the frame. I like these older cars. Very nice work.
Regards,
Kevin

Hello Linda,

This is a wonderful car!
It would cause quite a stir if the police still used cars like this. You have capyured its shine and details well.

The pp work, to blur the b/g, was a good idea but I really don't like it in the f/g. To me, it draws attention to it rather than creating less distraction. Also, you have to be minutely careful in selectiong the image. You have acquired a halo around the upper part of the car.
Sorry to be so critical, my friend.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Linda

Enjoy your well earned break! A nice wide angled view of the miniature car with good, seemless, pp work, on the bg & fg. The slight halo doesn't bother me. Excellent framing & sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Linda !

This miniature car ( LOL !) , monster Police car would cost a fortune to operate these days and ages with the gazoline price. No wonder why they are all in museums now.

Seriously . The post processing is indeed usefull, almost creating a close-up view to a toy with a shallow DOF.

Cheers!

PS. I love your note, and I can not agree more. Although in my case , I talk so much at work, I am not phoning at home. I am connected to Skype, Facebook ,beside TL. but I have a hard time to get in touch with all the people who picked me as a friend. Too shy (^_^).

When we grow up , we indeed collect the bad habits and thoughts of our immediate environment, family and friends. When we grow up , we discover, we test, we listen, we study, we think , we realize, we make up our own opinions, and provided we do that with an open mind we can easily recognize truth from lies, what it right and what is wrong.

It can only be obtained with experience, and common sense. We can not buy that, and we must get it ourselves. This is the beauty and sadness too of the real world. To navigate in todays world and be able to survive. I was fortunate to get a good education , and fantastic teachers who gave me the tools the hints to be curious , and always learn more about anything I wanted to know,

Today Internet is indeed a fantastic tool. As a teen I was writing all over the world to various correspondants. It took weeks before I got an answerback. Now , we can do it live and Free.

That is pretty amazing! But I needed to take a break from my PC lately. And it was not because I do not like my TL , Facebook , Webshots, Flickr buddies (^_^).One reason was specifically to use the old and long traditional writing , mailing process.

Keep on the good work!
Robert

good morning
