[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this shot last summer at an "open garden" event that allowed the public to tour selected private gardens for a day. This is the entrance to one of the properties, with a variety of landscaped and garden sections within. I liked the inviting view through the gateway and the shadows on the pavement. I pp'd it for extra dreaminess/mood.

PP: standard RAW adjustments, added my version of an Orton effect for a soft dreamy quality, bordered, resized, jpegged, sharpened.

Is it supposed to be so out of focus? I'm surprised you posted this, unless your intention is some sort of dreamy, soft-looking other-worldy kinda effect.

I had already noticed this photo yesterday night, Karen, but without commenting it because I thought my poor eyes were getting tired... ;o)
Just to say that, whereas I like your composition and the shadow on the foreground, I'm not convinced (at all) about the PP-work you opted for (BTW: thanks a lot for completing your note, so I can cancel my appointment with the occulist! ;o)).
To me, the dreamy effect is over the top and does not really add something to the photo. On the contrary, it raises questions...
Of course, this is only my personal opinion. Feel free to (dis)agree. ;o)
Kind regards,
Erik

Hi Karen:
I love to be in gardens... of every style and size.I know what the orton effect is I have tried it myself because I picked it up from some of your earlier photos... They do have a dreamy effect when done right and that style is very appropriate here. nicely done thanks Karen....Roman:0)
