This elegant and interesting sculpted horse is one of four or five in an enclave between skyscrapers just off the main street in downtown San Francisco. They appear to be made of drift wood, or a replica thereof. Their grace and beautiful lines bring a magical dimension to this smallish urban space. I tried to find a placard which gave the artist's name, but was unable to do so.
This was a Sunday afternoon outing with a TL friend. It was a pleasure to hang out with another member and take photos together. I recommend it to anyone on the site as a way to learn and get to know someone more personally than you might by only posting on the TL website.
I didn't do too much to this image except sharpen and increase the saturation.
Over the next few days I'll post more photos from this relaxed and pleasant outing. |

Richard,
Well done. My only comment would be related to the overexposed spot between the buildings on the top-left.
I think the author of this sculpture and title are "Bronze Driftwood Horse by Deborah Butterfield". Believe it or not the material for driftwood is bronze. Search Google and you will find details.

Good POV for this shot. The courtyard creates distractions that you have managed to minimize with this composition while also giving us a good view of the open structure of the sculpture. It's fascinating how real, yet unreal, this horse looks:) Nice one!

hi Richard
I like this kind of sculpture where natural material of drift wood is in fact a form of recycled material, it beats steel or metal which involves extraction of minerals and processing causing energy use and natural resources.
This is a fine piece of capture and very good view of the sculpture within its neighborhood environment. I would not have noticed on the OE part if Leo did not mention it, but it is a good remark on the minor flaw.
Good work.
tfs, bill
