Taken on a TL meet, visiting the Painted Hills NP in Oregon. Each day saw a different colour & view of this colourful area. Amazing that these formations are millions of years old & I just heard of them a few weeks back through being a member of TL,I think Oregon want's to keep this magical area a secret:)

Ron, you're right .. the colors of this area are just amazing to see. Some day I'd like to go there. In this particular one, it's interesing to see that patch of very green grass in the distance. Do you think thats a crop of some sort? Almost looks like the well-manicured grass of a golf course!
Fantastic shot, with all the different layers. Great job Ron.
Have a great weekend
Trudy

Hi Ron,

Stunning shot the pov is perfect imho the colour scheme is amazing the details are sharp and the dof is great looks like you enjoyed your visit to this place. The place is well named the Painted Hills thanks for letting us enjoy the sites with you tfs.

Regards
Jon

Nature can be so beautiful Ron and you have caught on your lens the colourful side of it , one those landscapes that once admired is hard to forget , agree with Trudy here: the patch of green draws some attention along with the layers of colors in the chocolate-caramel-looking low hills, nicely composed,
tfs,
Carol

I really hope that when there's another meet in this place someone will let me know :) Spectacular colors and detail once again. TFS

and as far away from the Scots as we can make them. LoL.....
Hello Ron,
A grand capture of the Hills, the colors this year were by far the best, as was the lighting as the air was very clear due the moisture in the atmosphere.
Excellent post, and Have A Great Weekend...

Hi Ron
You've nailed the colours nicely here especially in the evening light. That patch of green always intrigues me when I see a shot from this angle.
Phil

Hi Ronald,
A gorgeous presentation from an incredible place. I love the late evening light - does it bring out the colors or what? Stunning. TFS. Gerald

Been away so missed your latest shots! This is very nice - I like the different layers throughout the scene with differing colours and contrasts. Nice side lighting with a golden glow.
I do think though that f4.2 is too wide for this landscape as the grasses at the front are out of focus - f9 would be ideal with 35mm lens using either a tripod or higher ISO. I always shot landscapes in aperture mode to give better control of DOF and with a D80 you'll certainly get a pin sharp photo through the whole scene.

Cheers
David
