Yes, I think we've all seen 'the look', but in my family it was the daddy that gave it :) I really like this portrait, she's a very lovely lady. Nice lighting and detail. TFS
Linda,
You know the song, "she's got the look!" hahahaha. Yes, we've all seen that look. You have really captured the essence of the experience. The lighting is nice on this too Linda. The way you have filled the frame with her is great. I like the patch of bright colors on her sleeve too. Just think soon, our kids will be giving US the look when we start repeating stories! ;) Lisa

I love her 'look', I bet she has many stories to tell. You have captured this wonderfully.
Hi Linda,
What a great portrait of your mother. I love the light in this shot with the dark shadows on the right spilling over to the middle of her face. The details here are excellent as well as the clarity. I get this look about twice a day from my wife.
Have a great day and nice work.
Regards,
Kevin

Hi Linda
A look of bored disdain, for sure. I'm sure she's really a very forgiving & obliging soul, in real life. Whenever I used to frown as a kid, my Mother would warn me that "one day the wind will change, & freeze that expression on your face permanently, so watch out!" Hope you're staying cool in that hot weather!
Hey Linda,it was "Father's Day" after all, where's his pic:)
you do resemble your mum looking at her image. A great natural coloured portrait, with great details,I like the slight shadow on the right side, terrific use of the available light,& I think there is a hint of a smile ,must have been a fond story dad was telling.

Terrific shot! Her expression is priceless - and instantly indentifiable!!
I love the lighting, the sense of dimension and depth. The stories told in the beautiful textures of her face are so well captured - and the placement of her hand, and that ring on her finger, tells still more stories.
I know I get a lot of flak for loving realism in photographs, but I genuinely believe that human beings are beautiful as they are, and this portrait is a fine example of that.
Great job

Hi Linda,
Great portrait, very sharp, with a wonderful light and colour, and a wonderful eyes expression; a like a lot the hands position adding a great strength to the portrait.
Best regards, mb

Hi Linda,
Priceless pose, excellent light, the dark right side enhance the face of your mother. The dreamy glance in her eyes makes me think (and that's good) the sharpness is striking, all those details, all those wrinkles so clearly shown, although I'm not sure if your mom experience the same happiness as I do. Anyway a superb posting my dear Calamity!

A wonderful portrait Linda - I like the pose and great use of ambient light. The main thing I'd change would be to up the ISO a little and go for a slightly narrower aperture to get her right (our left) eye fully sharply focused as it seems a little soft to me.
Indeed though a nicely posed portrait..
Cheers

Top notch portrait here, Linda - very impressive. To me, portrait shots that grab my attention are ones that show something of the subject's character or personality. You mother's expression, posture and the details of her face and hand really show something about her. The texture of her skin is very sharply shown. Excellent lighting. This is great.

Yes, she's heard it all before!! And I bet she could tell an even better story than daddy...
The lighting and focus are very good. And the expression really says it all.

haha,, yes the look, i guess we all get that day dream look when we here stories from our loved ones who we spend so much time with but very cool to capture, i love the sharpness, comp and wonderful light,
hope all is well,
thanks, scott
Hi Linda, this is a wonderful portrait of your mom, the lighting is soft, and just right.
Isee what you mean about her expression, well captured.
I do apologise for not getting back to you sooner. My eyes were playing up, my operation went well, but I found it quite fatiguing trying to type. At best my two finger style won't set any speed records.
I'm coming right now, so hope to participate more.
Cheers,
Peter.
PS, re the forum on 'chatting', I think the social interaction is equally important as the photography. I think most people join clubs to socialise as well as participate, I know I do.
