[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
***I shot this on the fly, jumping out of the truck, to run up a hill and position myself as the bikers rolled around the corner. I had my Sigma 70-200mm on the camera, so it gave me a nice close up view of the expressions of the bikers. What attracted me is that they moved in tandem, much as fish do. The goal was to get a good amount of them in focus, not easy, but I pushed to F6.3 hoping for a deeper DOF as I was zoomed in.

I have joined a cycling "gang" and I have really loved spin class. I can go two hours within my range of 65-85% of heart capacity with ease now. Now it's time to step it up. I did a 5K at 48, a 1/2 marathon at 49...but I'm really doubting the full marathon at my age...but now I see I may be able to shoot for another goal, the MS150 bike ride from Houston to Austin, 200 miles. I'm training for it...it certainly is easier on the knees and ankles! HAHA!

Hi Linda, & howdy neighbor, right back atcha!

A superb sports action shot of the cyclists, with good repetition, shallow dof, & fg sharpness. The tilt adds superb dynamism. Have a fantastic weekend, & drink lots of cool fluids (water, juice, &/or watermelon, icecream, coolatta etc).

Excellent capture of action. 1/1000 shutter speed proved to be perfect for the high speed of the cyclists, the moment is well 'frozen', your image has nice sharpness and light. I also like your use of vignetting. TFS!

Hi Linda,

Great capture of the cyclists in action and I love your reference to fish moving in tandem. My first thought looking at your shot was symmetry, so the fish remark gave me a good chuckle.

Good choice of shutter speed to freeze the action and the aperture worked well considering the focal length.

Great action shot you have here. The f5.6 did the trick and really captured the details you were looking for. The expressions are great I really like that look of determination in the eyes of most of these riders.

Linda, Terrific shot! I like shots of bikers. Their outfits and helmets are so colorful. I also like the way you caught them at a turn instead on the straightway. You certainly caught the intensity of the race in the facial expressions too.

Hello Linda, an excellent action shot.I like the angle of the cyclists 'as they roll round the corner'.
Imo the DoF is just right.
It does amaze me how close they ride to each other, your analogy of the fish is a good comparison.

IMHO, this is a really great photo. You've captured the action really well.
Your POV is good and DOF has worked out fine.
Fantastic goal you have to do a 200 mile ride. It will be very rewarding when you cross the line. You just need the right preparation and the will, which I'm sure you have, and it can be done.
