| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| I hesitated many times before posting this photograph, simply because it looks like nothing more than a pretty snap shot postcard of mountains and snow. There is a very sad story behind this photo, which I will NOT bore you with here on TLens. We all have sad story photographs. Why the name: Deception? That was the name of the ski run I was on, a double black diamond. One interesting thing about this photo is it's technical information: Camera Pentax 35mm Point and Shoot. Film: Kodak Max 200ASA. Lens: 35mm. Drugstore processing. Nothing fancy or expensive. I chose this camera because a year earlier I trashed an expensive Nikon on a ski trip when I crashed and burned with a total "yard sale". This photo is from a 35mm negative, and was enlarged to 4' X 38". Yes, four feet! The quality was amazing! I scanned a 4"x6" print with a medium resolution scanner thinking at least I would have a file for my digital file archives. Yet after a bit of clean up, this scanned image printed beautifully to a 11"X14" print! What's amazing about all this is that the original image came from a 35mm Point & Shoot camera. If nothing else that speaks very well of the glass in front of a camera; any camera! Even a high resolution digital camera. Other than that, ski safe and in control! Cheers, JGoff |
