The Tree Scream
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
When I saw this old tree I couldn't help thinking of the expressionist painting by Edvard Munch titled "The Scream." Actually I think the original German title "Der Schrei der Natur" is more poignant. Did the tree scream as it was dying. Did anyone hear?
PP work:
Slight increase in contrast.
Adjusted color curves.
Resize and sharpen.

Ciao Werner, great composition with fantastic old tree, splendid light and colors, wonderful texture, very well done, ciao Silvio
Definitely can see the Munch comparison here.
Nice job with keeping this singleminded, and tightly framed.
I know focal length vs. shutter speed are a consideration but if you'd had the opportunity to use a longer focal length and wider aperture, you would have gained a shallower field of focus and more separation of background from subject.
Highlights on the brighter part of the bark also suggest that you could've bumped up your shutter speed a little anyway.
Nice shot!

Hi Werner
Good textural details in the contorted bark & hollow space, within, & on, the tree. Well framed & composed, with an apt title. Tfs!
The next question is whether it was a silent scream if no one was a round to hear it...TFS
warm regards
David
