A fine cheerul macro! Fine colours en great DOF showing the pistil and stamen very clearlly. A pity of the OE on the red middle, although not very disturbing. Fine posting, well done.

Here I think the limitations of the camera you were using come into play - even at f/3.7 it doesn't afford you the kind of shallow field of focus that a SLR lens might give. A more blurred background would make your subject - which is well captured, sharp and colourful - stand out more.

Plan B might be to put a black sheet in the background and simply have the flower against a pure black background?

Missed this one. A superb floral macro of the red hibiscus flower, with good sharpness, color, & dof. I had no idea that they grew that far north in the US. Tfs!
