I'm borrowing a 50MM lens from a great friend of mine and decided to experiment with it by turning it around and using it as a macro lens. I tried it while at work. This is my first attempt...well first good attempt. hehehe! Anyways, enjoy!

Hi Daniel

Interesting and fun idea and nice colour. However the image would be much stronger if the pin (tack) lying across the centre were perfectly focused.

Cheers

Austin

Hello Daniel,

This is a good try, but as was pointed out earlier, the pin in the center is not really in focus. You should. The good thing about this image is the composition. It caught my attention and is a job half done.

Cheers!

Pierre

good Macro :) I like the smooth lines and the muted colors :)
it's trully a good attempt :)

TFS :)

I saw this picture today, and it caught my attention. It is weird and warm at the same time. The coldness of the pins, with the softness of their tones. I really like it. That strange effect and how you managed the light is pretty good for sure.

Thanks for sharing.
Regards!

Ah...fun subject and setup to work with for practice! I agree that it would be better to have a "sharp as a tack" clarity on the featured thumbtack. The light plays nicely on the metal but also created some OE spots. Challenging shot and good attempt...so hope to see more in the future:)

at first I was thinking of a trumpet...
If it was a little more out of focus , great color and good composition.

Others may not like this, because there is quite an amount of unsharpness in this image, but I really like the way how you have the exact focus on the tip of the pin in the foreground.
Lovely work Daniel.

For a moment I was wondering if you have your cam on "manual".
If you do, try setting the aperture on F16 and adapt the shutterspeed to that. If needed you can use a tripod.
You'll see there will be a lot more sharpness all over the image when the aperture is smaller. The smaller the F-number, the wider the diafragm opering, the more light: this means less sharpness!
If you use a higher F-number, the opening will be smaller, you will have less light so you will need a longer shutterspeed, but the image will be sharper!
:-) I hope this is atleast a bit clear... and I hope that you can do some more experimenting!

Cheers,
Anneke
