Meet the Pelican Gang! I found a flock of these big mouth birds last year, just hanging out on a log. I had to sneak up on them! If you walk straight at them, slowly, you can get pretty close. What is SO funny is that when one starts squawking, they ALL join in and carry on and you can hear the sound just rolling down the rows of birds. And then one gets scared and floats off...and then another...and then another.... and you see this long row of BIG white birds just floating away.
Hope you like it, it was a VERY cold day when I took this shot.
B-)
Linda

Hi Linda

We're almost neighbors today in the gallery!

I'll be taking a week off to do a minitour of Korea tomorrow. Fantastic repetition of the pelicans, with good sharpness & framing. Tfs!

Hello Linda!
Very nice PP work ans great capture!
Lovely tone and light in your composition!
Best regards!
Lili

Hi Linda,
An amazing presentation of this pelikan gang adorned with fabulous lighting and good sharpness.
I wonder why the pelican on the right is not so sharp, with 1/1000 sec it must be in perfect freeze!
A very nice atmosphere with great details.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hello Linda,

Very calm, soft and adorable picture of today!

Great sharpness and nice POV are the best things you have in your picture, ofcourse there are lots of other things which make your picture simply beautiful!

Thanks for posting such a great composition.

This is not a sight I would get to see here. I love it!! Very nice tones and excellent detail. I enjoyed reading your note as well. TFS

Great picture, this picture has a strong composition.
regards,
Khawar.

Hi Linda,

excellent presentation of this gang.
what I like is the DOF in this photo to precisely show only the gang and the rest part to be blurry. good composition.
well done job.

Regards,
Sanjib.

Hi Linda,
This is great! I love pelicans. They are so much fun to watch. The shot looks like a cold day. The lighting is excellent on this, the birds really stand out. How funny they are all looking in different directions. TFS Julie

Bonjour linda

Superbe photo avec une netteté impressionnante. Les teintes en font une réalisation empreinte de douceur.

Hi Linda,
I like this exotic view on these fabulous birds. Pelicans don't live in my country!
I like also the post-treatement you applied. This gives a atmosphere of intimacy at the scene.
Bravo and thanks for the informative note, too!
Annie

Hi Linda,
Wow... this remembers me at an other "Big Mouth Gang" :-) They apperantly seem to be puzzled. Excellent exposure of the white feathers, no OE really striking natural contrast. These "Big Mouths" look much more sympathic than the one I have in mind. Anyway excellent camera setting resulting in a wonderful bird picture!
Hans

HI LINDA,
great note. your description reminds me of something. :-)

nicely captured, as usual. the vignetting keeps your attention on all those big mouthed pelicans.

i hate it when one starts squawking then the others join in. they don't even know what the first one was squawking for but they feel the need to join in. they act like clowns!

hugs,
'seeker'.

good lday linda, the squaling is like in the movie "finding nemo" haha.
its a nice little shot of these birds, love the vignetting in the corners, very nice,
tfs,
scott

Hi Linda
It's beautiful! TFS.

PS: We are going to move out of NW sometime in September.

great shot Linda. I don't like long comments, so, no long comment. Love Janos

Hi Linda,
Very balanced exposure throughout this busy scene. Well worth getting out in the cold for :). Nice clarity for such a long focal length, the focus looks spot on too. Well seen.

TFS,
Scott.

Good one Linda, wow lots of long beaks in this shot, ha ha and the light was well measured , a strong point in this compo ,fine details too, the shallow DOF allows to isolate your subject from both planes very well ,i like this a lot tfs,
Carol

Hello Linda,
I love the grouping of these magnificent birds, virgin in color, and very dignified in their White suits. the lighting with the overcast skies worked excellently here as there are no contrasts to counteract against the white Pelicans.
Very Nice Capture...
Steve

Hi Linda,

Lovely presentation of the birds.
EXCELLENT !!

Hi Linder girl
Even my Dave likes this pic - and I do like your explaining about the birds' behaviour when one of them starts squawking!! Makes me think of humans when one of the gang starts mouthing off, the rest of the gang join in!! Like kids!!
Beautifully captured - love the colours and tones - good PP work
I'd like them on my farm too
Janice

HI, Linda -
Really nice shot of these strange birds. The light is nice and soft, the details of their feather - fluffed up to fight the cold - are sharp. Perfect DOF and I like the vignette effect. Nice one.

Hi Linda,
Very beautiful shot,well done.
