Hey Linda,
This is a wonderful image. You're right, but there are two things which absolutely make this photo: the wet streets and the hazy skyrise.
I'm not an HDR fan by any stretch of the imagination. I think that might be primarily because of the way it affects colors. In B/W, it doesn't bother me, in fact, I like the contrast and tonal range. Your B/W treatment reminds me of classic urban photos from the 30s and 40s. I love the repetition of the umbrellas and the faceless urbanites.
Why did it take you over a year to show us this?
Wonderful stuff!

Hi Linda,
Excellent bad weather picture! Perfect handling of the low light showing the rain. Great "street shot"! Contrast and brightness are perfect. A great B&W impression of NY!

Hi Linda,
This is a fantastic image, the B&W effect gives this image a classic timeless feel, it is great contrast with good B&W with the gray creeping into the sky and high buildings. Great shot - TFS

Hello Linda
Without a doubt this is a very good work, it is a great and dramatic composition, the reflections of the wet street are fantastic.
I really like the high contrast here.

Hello Linda (I guess that is your real name, if people are calling you Linda),
it looks like a movie scene.
I just want to grab my popcorn, relax
and watch the rest of this movie.
Great effect.

hi snookums,
a sumptuous piece of work. you know i'm a sucker for a good monochrome image.
the rain enhances the mood. i can almost hear a saxophone playing in the background, as this is like a still from a 'Philip Marlowe' movie.
hugs,
Brian

Hi Linda, Interesting shot in black and white. Time really is standing still in your photo as it looks from another era. I would have probably been tempted to add more contrast, but it would have changed the mood you intended I'm sure. I like all of the umbrellas and the wet pavement. I enjoy rainy days anyway, so like this too. ;) Lisa

I also love the wet streets and especially surrounded by this great architecture. Nice moody sepia tones and excellent detail and pov. I always like the reflection from the rain. TFS

Hi, Linda -
Great street scene of busy Chinatown -the sheen of water on the surface of the street, the use of b&w and the pedestrians with their umbrellas really give a nice feel. The tall building in the bg shrouded in mist is a great touch. Great stuff!

simply fabolous.. HDR makes all superb!
great and evocative atmosfere!! thanks
ciao Marco
I love rainy shots, they are bursting with mood. I was wondering whether or not the photo would benefit from a little bottom crop, but I'm not entirely sure...now it has this poster-effect which suits the picture really well :)
Is that fog around the tower? Nice :)
Cheers,
Nathalie
