[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The local branch of Ohio State University puts on a great concert and fireworks display every year. We usually show up around 5pm and don't leave for six hours. This year the OSU marching band played a set, along with a local band called stick N Stones.

I used a tripod and held the shutter button down for pretty much the whole display. Since it was on high-speed drive mode, it would take three in rapid succession, write to the card for a moment, take three more, write more...etc. Boy, do I wish I had a cable release, though! ;)

I changed the shutter speed a few times, too. Used Paintshop Pro to remove camera noise (it was really speckly following a particularly bright firework), crop and add the frame.

This is so amazing, and the note on the tripod use was good too.
I know these photos are hard to take.
This is the best fireworks shot I've ever seen.

Fireworks are very difficult to shoot unless you've got a hi-tech DSLR, Kimberley... So I think you did a great job. Maybe 2 seconds was a bit too long, since the sky is rather light and the fireworks don't have that many colours left (unless it was this colour originally, I can't tell of course). On the other hand, 2 seconds and this sharp while pressing the button: well done! You used a tripod, but still holding the camera could very well cause some blur. TFS.

Wonderfully shot, very spectacular!
Well captured, good work.

Very nice fireworks, I will give a try this summer and see how it goes with my dslr.

Your POV including the crowd is interesting too.

Take care, Yan

I like how you were able to capture the crowd so well along with the fireworks it really sets the mood. Somehow i had missed this shot, I took a few also but did not have the crowd in them like this. TFS

And yes a remote release is wonderful for this type of stuff.

I shot at mostly F/8 and smaller, with even longer exposures.

Like this picture...!

Few suggestions...
1. Depth of field could have been increased with higher f-stop number say f8.0 ( you hv used f2.8)
2. ISO 100 or less can be used (not sure what you used. Noise in ur pic could be bcos of higher ISO)
3. Put the camera on manual focus (if u hd one in ur camera) and set the focus to infinity
4. The harsh lights could have been excluded from the frame, which distracts the viewer from the fireworks.

Hi Kimberley,
Perfact timing....
TFS
