Abandoned Car

| I took this photo on Cumberland Island In Southeast Georgia. They have four or five of these cars sitting around this area, each of them of course blocked off by rope. The patches of light falling across the car is from the light making its way through the huge live oaks and their branches full of spanish moss. |

Griffin,
A really nice image. Some people may quibble with the focus and the fact that there are some blown out areas, but to me these elements -- plus the shadows -- just help to give it a dreamy quality that I like.
The whole picture is a bit of a memento mori; you can practically feel time eating away this car under your fingers.
I'm curious as to why these wrecks were roped off; do you know? It seems a curious thing to protect something that's decaying. Was it to protect people from hurting themselves on the rusty cars perhaps? Just curious.
