[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an HDR process of a single image at the Port of Galveston, at the shipyards. This is an oil rig platform in construction, and at some point will be hauled out to sea. That Sunday was a beautiful morning and we got down to the shipyards about 8:30AM, so the air was crisp and clear, the water was beautiful that day! The Squarerigger to the extreme right is the Ship Elissa, stationed out of Galveston Texas.
Hope you have a great day!
B-)
Linda

Hi Linda,

nice pov here. the leading lines of the under constructed pipes over the water is adding to the image. nice colors and clear sky adding dimension over here.

Sanjib.

Hi Linda,
I like how the mooring posts lead the eye right to the oil rig, nice blue colour to the water,I guess a reflection as to how nice a day it was.I noticed on the left hand side a small part of what I would expect to be, a large sailing ship, or a replica of an old wooden sailing ship, with many masts, did you happen to take an image of it ,I would be interested in viewing it if you did.
I also have a question for you Linda , as I see you can not be contacted via email,so I will use this approach & I hope you have no objection?
A while back you had posted an image of a horse & you had used a tool in Adobe to pull it's mane to look fuller, I tried to find the image again, as you had explained how to do this procedure in your notes, but could not find it,so would you be as kind as to inform me which tool & how to manipulate it, as I have a need to use it, on one of my images. Please & thank you.
Regards

Ron

Hello Linda,
The air does look warm and inviting for so early in the morning. A great view of the platform and those colors, very saturated and pleasant to view. Before I read the note I noticed the bow of the squareriigger and all its ropes, have you posted an image of it onto your site?
Great capture here...
Steve

Flawless HDR, the dynamic range feels so natural - I would've assumed it to be a single exposure. Great composition and excellent use of negative space to draw the eye in.

Only niggle would be the glimpse of the bow on the far right, doesn't really contribute to the shot in my opinion.

Hi, Linda -
Great composition - the line of posts leads the eye from the corner of the frame out to the platform. The water's surface is very sharp, and the morning light is bright and crisp. Really nice image.

I like how the poles on the right make a leading line towards the rig on the left :)

very nice :)

Hi Linda,

All I can say is I love the blues here. The water itself is relaxing to me. I like the ripples and the reflections of the structures in the water. Looks like it was a gorgeous day. This is just a vibrant, sunny photo! :) I honestly can't think of anything that I would change or add. :) Lisa

Hi Linda,
Nice subtle HDR treatment, the exposure looks extremely balanced as a result. Loving the reflections off the water from the sky, the oil rig in the distance looks razor-sharp too. Good lead-in and composition with the poles, impressive work.

TFS,
Scott.

Hi Bad (hehehe)
Very nice blues here. Loved the depth of scene here.
The HDR Process was a good idea to show the hidden details but i guess the day light would have been very harsh which did not allow u to expose the left side of the bars(i guess)

Nicely composed and presented, i hope u enjoyed ur Sunday :)

Good morning Linda,
Your trademark blue certainly drapes the port scene beautifully. I can sense this was carefully composed, much to my liking. Effective repetition of poles. There is good sharpness and depth. Cheers!

Who's afraid of the big, bad... Linda?

Fantastic color tones of blue, that contrast well, against the orange oil derrick platforms in the bg. Superb sharpness, with nice reflections of the blue skylight & dark pylons, which add a nice repetitive element. Have a great weekend!
