[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a view from the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center near Baker City onto the Virtue Flat. Behind this plateau the famous Snake River is emerging from Hells Canyon finding its way to the Pacific Ocean.

The covered wagon is a replica of a wagon that was used for the 6 month journey from Missouri to Oregon called the Oregon trail. I thought it was a pretty nice feature to add to an overall 'flat' landscape.

Thanks Evelynn for the corrections.

Hello Niek
Yes this is really a nice feature which adds much to the flat landscape.
The exposure is very nicely controlled, details on the ground r good.

I was just wondering how if u bright up a little dark (shadow side) of this coach, may be multi exposure would have done it???

Hi Niek,
I like your inclusion of the wagon,it's part of the history of the old west, not quite as comfortable as the campers & trailers of today:)can you imagine it being one's home for 6 months, hardy folk back then for sure.
I like the scale the wagon gives to the scene,it enhances the vastness of those plains. Not sure if you had used an f/8 it would have shown a little more detail to the fron of the wagon?

Hallo Niek.

Hi Niek,

I may be an Oregonian BUT I have never been to this center! Was it worth the visit? Yes eastern Oregon is pretty flat and pretty dry and pretty barren. It isn't a place I would have wanted to travel across by covered wagon. "Covered Wagon" is what we always call them. The Oregon Trail actually went from Missouri to Oregon (from Independence Missouri to the Willamette Valley). Where did you focus on this shot? The entire foreground is so sharp...at least as far as I can tell :P
I like the wagon in the foreground. I assume you were trying to avoid something on the left side. The image looks cropped a little close on that side, but I know there must have been a reason.

Beautiful shot!!! Well taken!

Hi Niek, Good POV to show what travel was like a hundred years ago. Looks like a set for a Cowboy Movie which were favorite in my childhood days. Good angle and clarity. TFS. Murray.
