[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Our next stop on our four week vacation through Oregon was at Bend. We planned to have a stop at a larger city so that we could do some additional shopping and see more than only the outdoors. But, we are more drawn to nature so a few trips were made into the mountains.

I made this photo while on a trip along several lakes situated below the Three sisters. It was another typical summer day with a clear blue sky, high temperatures and harsh light to work with. It would have been nice if we had planned this trip on a different time of the day, but then meant departing too early or arriving too late. While traveling, you have to do with what you've got.

I just noticed I forgot to correct the lens distortion.

Hello Niek,
This time we are neighbours. I like your photos and this is very beautiful landscape with perfect sharpness and light. You had clear air so far mountains are exactly visible. You used grass on foreground with superb result.
Best regards, Pawel

Hi Niek,
Excellent composition and a crisop and clear view on Sparks lake. Like the POV here showing the grass in the foreground creating a nice depth in this image. The reflection is a stunning detail. Great posting Niek.

Beautifully composed Niek, nice used of grass as FG element leading our eyes to the beautiful scenery at the back. F/16 works for the details. Well seen.

Hi Niek,
An amazing POV with a fantastic DOF!
Great FG and a marvelous BG!
This capture, for me, represents the four seasons in one shot! Warmness in the FG and coolness in the BG!
Very sharp image with marvelous lighting!
A very pleasing composition!
Well done,

Francis Xavier

WOW! This is super sharp Niek! I love the colors in this, very natural. Lens distortion doesn't bother me that much, unless it's just extreme for no reason! This is beautiful! The brush in the front is nice, leads you right in!

Hi Niek,
Even if the light was harsh, you got a fantastic image.
I like your POV with this nice perspective towards the white mountains well relfected on the lake. The colors are clear and sharp. Wasn't it the wind which made leaned the trees? :)
Bravo! Annie

Nice use of that Sigma, Niek. As usual this is a great landscape and the lens helps pack in so much detail that the shot is rich. But what I really like about your composition is the use of fg, mg, and bg elements to really draw the viewers' eye into the scene toward the mountain. I might have tried to place that fg grass a bit further to the left to balance the mountain on the right, but there might have been some stuff in the way.

Hi Niek,
I like how you composed this as a vertical with your wide angle lens. I like the inclusion of the dead tree it sort of seperates the grasses of the foreground from the mountain & its reflection, yet blends them both together well. Nice details & clarity.

In a shot like this I have to say lens distortion doesn't matter. In fact it's the slightly distorted components that make such an impressive, sweeping and majestic whole. The balance of colours and the reflections on the water are all so breathtaking, clear, and sharp.
Normally I'm not a fan of signatures but you've kept yours subtle enough. :)
Beautiful shot.
