[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was our second lighthouse we visited that day. Although the location of this lighthouse was not as spectacular as Cape Blanco, the style of the lighthouse was certainly attractive.

Finding a good location for a photo was a bit tricky. The lighthouse was situated at the end of the river next to a busy parking area and across the river from the city of Bandon. I also had to deal with many visitors that were obstructing the clean view. I was hoping that the person in the door opening would walk away, but waiting any longer would meant people walking into the composition from the right. In the end the person in the door opening does add something extra.

Hi Niek

A good choice of the vertical format on the lighthouse, with a wonderful blue sky & superb color, sharpness & lighting. Well composed also. Tfs!

I would have cropped this square. The shape of the lighthouse is almost perfect for that.
Or... I would have added more sky and less "green"...
In a funny way I think the greens in the foreground don't add anything special to the image. Sky however is so perfectly blue that it's almost screeming to be in the image... kind of like in the one you posted yesterday.

But.... I think that things like this are mostly always a matter of personal taste.
About your technique of photography there is no bad critique to give.

Cheers,
Anneke

Hallo Niek
Een mooie gave fot.
Juist in beeld gebracht.
Alles op de juiste plaats.
Gr Jos

I liked the composition of your last lighthouse shot but this looks great too.
Harsh conrast of light and shadow on the rocks but the whole thing looks overall well exposed.. Nice colour sky from the CP.

Cheers
David

Hi Niek,
Its funny how everybody likes lighthouses. I like the composition with all the detail in the FG plus a pleasant blue gradient in the sky. The man silhouetted at the door creates a real focal point.
cheers
Jack

Hi Niek:
Most beautiful capture of this lighthouse...very sharp & loaded with colors and I like how you have taken the advantage of the blue sky:)

Très belle photo! Jolie composition, une belle lumière idéale et une belle qualité d'image.

Hi Niek,

I thought this lighthouse looked familiar. I've not been that close to it before though. I have painted it several times from across the way. I even posted a shot of it once. Coastal Guardian Yours is a nice sharp image and perfectly exposed throughout. They were renovating the lighthouse when we were there. I'm not sure I like the red... but that is tradition I suppose. The weather can be quite spectacular there in Bandon with great clouds and light etc. It can also be pretty miserable and windy. You did manage to experience a lot of clear blue skies while visiting "rainy Oregon".

Hi Niek,
I do like the composition here, a tighter crop would trow away a lot of the balance in this composition. The greens on the foreground are not disturbing at all, so I disagree with Anneke (she doesn't mind :-) The silhouette of the man inside the lighthouse is a nice detail!

Excellent light house photo here with the human figure in the doorway being icing on the cake. I love the FG to BG sharpness and the exposure seems spot on without any blown highlights. Thank you for this awesome picture.

cheers,

Dilshan

Bonjour Niek
