Turret Arch in Arches National Park, Utah near Moab. Backlit. I've done quite a bit of burning & dodging.

"This is a nice walk to the windows section of Arches National Park. This loop is about 2 kms long and takes in three arches; Turret Arch, North and South Windows. The time it takes to complete this is totally up to you, if you stop to enjoy the moment you could be here a while but it would be time well spent. Figure on spending roughly an hour or so. This will probably be your first stop so enjoy standing beneath the arches, it is awesome!!

From the parking lot pickup the well marked trail. Once you get going, head off to the right and go to the Turret Arch. Once at the arch you can climb up a bit of the arch here and have some fun. Once done head back to the trail and make your way over to the North and South Windows. If you are pressed for time, head back the way you came. If you have the time, take the primitive loop around the back of the North and South Windows. The trail is fine, but you will be making your way over some slick rock and a bit steeper grade on the trail. Also, since this is called a “primitive loop” this area will be quieter with fewer tourists."

Hello Chris
Loved the color temperature of this Turret Arch, the sky has heavy clouds which adds to make the Arch more prominent.
How about darken the sky just to bring more drama in the sky??? (just my personal Opinion) :)

Hello, Chris -
Great work capturing the imposing and fascinating rock formation. Your work with selective exposure levels through dodge/burn was very effective. Warm, rich earth tones against a watercolor sky. Very nicely done.

Hi Chris

Artistic composition in this amazing natural arch
The burning and dodging tools work great here
The details are well captured

TFS, Alireza

Hi Chris,
I remember the Turret Arch and I am glad you posted this....I have shoe boxes of analog pics from the 80s. Your pp work is good as exposure appears to have been nicely balanced to showcase the Arch' features and details. I remember this place to be vivid red and hard to photograph on a very sunny day. Cheers
Danilo

Hi Chris,
A lovely photo. The details of the rock formation is very nice. Only thing missing from this is a cowboy on a horse and some Native Indians stalking him!

Bonjour Chris
Une curiosité géologique étonnante bien vise en valeur par un bon cadrage.
Le contraste est parfaitement bien équilibré et les détaille dans la structure superbe pour une bonne observation.
Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,

I have seen many other shots from this location and find the colours and textures of the rock formation just amazing! I think your treatment of the rock has been excellent, it has such texture that it appears like a natural stairway for the eyes to climb, to reach the pinnacle.
Personally, I think a crop from the left, removing the distant b/g, gives more attention to these amazing rocks and encourages the viewer to look through the prominent hole, to see the distance, rather than slipping out at the side.

Have a great day,
Bev :-)
