Lunchtime for my friend and I at "New Malaysian Cuisine" a small little nook of a restaurant found within an alleyway between two streets in Chinatown, New York City.

You can tell you're at a good spot in Chinatown when most of the patrons are Asian, not tourists.

Best thing here is an appetizer called Roti Canai, which is a crispy fried pancake thing served with a small dish of curry sauce with small chunks of chicken.

That's my friend/coworker to the left who just moved to the city and was willing to try something different for lunch. I promised she would like it there, and she did.

Behind her two people sharing a few dishes during their "lunchtime."

taste of the environment of this photo
beautiful photo

Nice POV. I would however prefer if the girl in the foreground was blurred a little as the focus in this picture is almost lost. But agin... nice picture!

Hi Daniel,
Off the table, and so fun. ;) Nice composition. I like how you have elements in the foreground through the background, gives a sense of depth. The girl in the middle slightly bugs me a little, but, in portraiture it's okay. The lighting and shadows look pretty good. It has a sense of ambiance to it. Good work.

PS...I wish it were true about seeing Asians inside a restaurant and not tourist, and the food being good...but!...There's a restaurant in SF...always crowded with Asians...it's not good...only cheap!

Hi Daniel,
Interesting perspective, I really like the lighting in this shot. Looks like a cool place to eat =) Probably one of my favorite things about NYC has to be the diverse cultures, and being able to taste food from all over the world. Hope your friend enjoys the city.
Take Care

hey Daniel, if you don't mind, i'll put this on my Diners theme. stealth shot? ... :) you don't really have time to compose in these kind of shots especially if you would include people on the photo! and the most that you could do is to just have a table top POV.

very nice! Good composition and I love the shiney reflection on the table. You'll have to show me that place next time I am in NYC! Great job. JP

nice out-of-the-hips-table-shooting. i like th strong colours giving us an interesting view into this restaurant.

Unusual perspective, dark atmosphere and warm colors - that's what I like in your photo :-)
