[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Doesn't get anymore typical than this. Sitting on the subway, reading your paper while the train tumbles down the dark tunnels from one stop to the next.

This guy was totally relaxed though, looks like he could have been home reading.

I like this moment.

This was shot from my lap. An easy way to get shots like this while not drawing attention to myself. I just pretend like I'm fiddling with my camera while I fire off a few rounds in the process.

Tech Notes: Converted to B&W and some film grain added. No crop here, what I got is what you see.

Enjoy

The lines of the train and lights vanishing into the distance is very nice. I can't tell if I like the girl on the right or not. Normally I like it when there are multiple subjects in a photo but she might be a little distracting. Maybe if she was still in the frame but smaller (farther away) then that guy sitting. It is good like this too. Oh maybe just a touch more contrast. the drakest parts of the photo are still not black. Nice job. JP

excellent subway photo :)
a lot of my own subway photos were also taken this way :P
good choice of b/w

A very good capture and composition. A litle more contrast (simulating a grade 4 paper) and grain (simulating a 100 ASA developed to 600) would make a fabulous print. Congratulations.

Daniel,
Hey man, your sneaky! Great job catching someone in a natural posture.
I prefer these to people posing.
Nice Post!
Scott

Hi Daniel,
Nice shot. Good capture of daily life and how people just go on with themselves on the subway. The composition is okay, but, in my opinion, I would've prefered that you pan to the right more and get more of the people in. And this would stress more of his isolation if we got to see how crowded the train is. But, I think you tried to get the graffiti on the left side, didn't you? It's not wrong, you're composition, but, it would be more dynamic the other way, I think. Ooooo...I just read JP's comment about not having any black...I think he's right (if you're going to go for a standard b&w print look). I just checked in a graphics program I have a profile for and I didn't see black, either. Anyhow...good timing, and good shot.
Take care.
Richard
