This is a power plant on the eastern edge of Tampa Bay, in Gibsonton. I was struck by how large and imposing this coal-burning structure was, and the fine line that exists between supplying energy needs for our modern society versus the sheer ugliness of such a facility. Unfortunately, the technology does not yet exist to make solar power and wind power viable alternatives to coal, oil and nuclear, so we must co-exist with power plants such as these.
Tech: Cropped, converted to duotone with the OptikVerve Labs plug-in for Photoshop (cyanide pre-set), sharpened. |

Imposing indeed! Your choice of duotone seems to intensify the feeling. Beautifully composed. Even the clouds seemed to be cooperating with the composition. Good catch.

Robert,
Growing up in a refinery town in Illinois I am used to seeing this kind of stuff.
I really like the mood you've created with the duotone.
Good moody, realistic view here. Almost makes me feel like I'm back in Wood River.
