[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today we had some trees removed from our property, along with a large splintered branch from an old cherry tree. I was impressed at the knowledge the landscaper and his crew had of trees, and at the efficiency with which they did their work.

To remove this branch, a man climbed about 30' up into the tree to a spot just above the limb's break. He then tied the branch with several ropes and tossed the ends down to the two men on the ground. They made sort of a web, keeping the branch just where they wanted it as it was cut and lowered to the ground. I talk more in a post at TrekEarth regarding the tree trimmer and his gear.

The trees surrounding the subject provided a natural vignette. I thought the branch itself, backlit by a stormy sky, seemed a negative image of a lightening bolt. I thought it was a neat spectacle!

Cropped, sharpened and added frame using Irfanview.

Well seen and excellent composition. The shadows in the foreplan contrast with the trees at the bottom where we can see just a hint of colour. It helps bring a sense of depth to this image.

Superb photo,

I love !! Great composition... The others tree seems to be sorry for the branch that will fall... All other tree stay around until the critical moment arrives... I like contrast in this photo... Congratulations ! Great job !

Yes I see what you mean - it has a natural frame - in a oval shape. This has a quiet beauty to it. Before I read the note (and just looking at the thumbnail) I thought it was a tree reflected off water. It's nice to see a photograph that can be interpreted in a variety of ways. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed it.Great note!

Really great shot, I love the b&w on the top where the drama is, a dead tree would like to reach the alive ones, and then below the colours appear. Nice compo and very creative, Kimberley!

this shot breaths a good mood... i quess the grey misty light helps that... i like the composition here with the dark elements in the outside...very well done....

Dangerous work, it looks like the branch is floating.

Great eye Kim. Good composition, a little more shadow detail would really make this sing.

Very nice composition. Nicely seen. I think I would have cloned the rope just so it would look like the branch is floating in midair. It would have made for a good pp. Nice shot.

Excellent framing, with just the green on the lower side.. Well seen and excecuted !!

Picture is fairytale! Completely I could decorate any exhibition! But on the pages of periodical would always assign on itself attention! Remarkable work! Thanks to you for the pleasure!

great shot,
I think the string looks okay, ii makes the picture look real..without the string it would be just a PP picture..I like it. Good composition, and I like the sky ..
