Babushka dolls are true works of art - that's why I love to collect them...although this one belongs to mom. What I did for this photo:
-Cropped, Adjusted brightness, reduced noise, framed.
Here's a little note about the BABUSHKA :) taken from
Wikipedia:
A matryoshka doll, or a Russian nested doll (also called stacking dolls or Babushka dolls)is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside another. "Matryoshka" is a diminutive from the Russian female first name "Matryona", which is traditionally associated with a corpulent, robust, rustic Russian woman.A set of matryoshkas consists of a wooden figure which can be pulled apart to reveal another figure of the same sort inside. It has in turn another figure inside, and so on. The number of nested figures is usually six or more. The shape is mostly cylindrical, rounded at the top for the head and tapered towards the bottom, but little else; the dolls have no hands (except those that are painted). The artistry is in the painting of each doll, which can be extremely elaborate.
Matroyoshkas are often designed to follow a particular theme, for instance peasant girls in traditional dress, but the theme can be almost anything, ranging from fairy tale characters to Soviet leaders.

Hello Ursula !

Cool collection these Babuka dolls . I am an avid collector too .... but of different objects (*_^).

Pretty good composition here with a great matching frame suiting perfectly the light and mood of your photo.
Well done.

We are flying on Sunday for Cuba. So I am really running short of time for TL. I am not supposed to be on duty outside office hours this week, but I am replacing my colleague who is sick.... So I have less time than I expectec to prepare myself before the Big Day!

Many thanks for the kind words, and your recent visit. They are truly appreciated.

Cheers!
Robert

Hello Ursula
I agree with you about the Babushkas, they are real works of art. And so it is this picture. What a fantastic doll and what a marvellous composition!
You did a great job!
Congratulations and TFS.
Maite

Hi Ursula! I've learned new today that Babushka is a doll. In the Philippines, it's a gay lingo which means bu-bye or goodbye :) But what really is a babushka? Is it a town or a person in Russia? Anyway, I like your close face POV showing the brush skills in this artwork.
TFS,
Freddie :)

Hi Ursula:
I have not seen these before, but thanks for the notes:)
Your works are really wonderful Ursula, and this one too is outstanding aretcopy work. The details are excellent. You have applied the 'rule of 3rds' which gives this doll a 3D effect, the lighting also is unmistakebly outstanding!!!!
