[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've joined a nice photography club in our area, and our next "assignment" is cemeteries. This reminded me of the cemetery in Boeschepe, France. This is the area that used to be Flanders.

Much importance and expense I suspect is devoted to the grave sites. Plaques are also placed on the graves by family members, associates, organizations and clubs paying their respect. You can see many of these in the photo. Much honor and remembrance.

I spent last April in France and a lot of that time in Boeschepe. I was on my early morning jog one morning, and as I passed by the building at this cemetery, I noticed a young woman with her backpack getting her things together and heading off across the countryside. I guess she had spent the night in the cemetery. Braver than I. :-)

I have more images from this delightful area. Made with the trusty Canon Powershot camera. I'll post a few more of them.

Hi Reid, Hi up on a hill - overlooking the land - I find it peacefull, but sleeping there at night would be quite a different thing.
Must be great to have a photography club.
You can learn a lot from the society you are visiting, by having a look in the cemetry.
This extra plagues placed on the actual stone I did not know, but it really is a nice thing to do!

I have my fun receently too into the cemetary. Long herbs... But the syndical activitys are finish now... Things go back to the normal!
I like the difference here.. No Herb... Just rock and stones basically! And flower who contrast nicely!

Dear Reid,
yes, also I often watched the cemeteries with full flowers in France. the beautiful flowers induce us sad and centimental feelings, but flowers are beautiful themselves and become a good part of the view.
this your photo is clear and bright, those sight must relief the deep sorrow of everyone.

In India, as in Mexico, they sit in the cemetary all night with candles, praying on halloween night. In India, Christian wooden coffins are made to dissolve inside of 7 years, at which time, the space is reused for someone else, unless you pay for more time. This cemetary makes me feel people love their families, and miss them terribly. I like the variety of headstones. Some look very old.
