Andrew's Brook
Glacier Creek (Storm Pass) Trail
Rocky Mountain National Park

A special "secret" place today.
This innocuous little bit of water passes under the trail a few hundred meters before you come to the large cascade of glacier creek (in a couple of my recent Trek Earth posts). .. but it is this place that is Andrew's place.

The Glacier Creek trail .. I had always known it as the Storm Pass Trail but Google Earth calls it Glacier Creek .. anyway the Glacier Creek trail is a connecting trail that leads from Sprague Lake (and the nearby campgrounds) up to the two most popular trail systems in the park (Glacier Gorge and Bear Lake). It is a quiet path .. almost always empty .. most campers prefer to take the bus up to the trail heads instead of the additional hike ..

Andrew loves this trail. He prefers to hike down it (From the Glacier Gorge trail head to the Storm Pass trail head) and then catch the bus back up to the car.

This particular place is a special spot for us. Years ago Andrew had one of the worst periods of his life .. I was fearful that there was nobody who could handle him let alone teach him. It was a hard summer .. Andrew had latched onto this quiet walk .. we came here often. Always we would stop and sit here by this meditative spot and take in the world of small things.

It had been a while since we had been here. I wanted to wait and catch it this autumn. There are beautiful stands of aspen trees down this path. We had a wonderful rainy September afternoon full of contemplation.

hello John,
lovely capture of rough stone and silky water....the hard and the smooth eh? isn't life like that?if we are lucky in this life, these precious places and moments soften the grittier realities.

Hi John, The effect you have captured in the water is very effective, rather like a textile such as silk. TFS. Murray.

Hi John, the flowing water works fantastic, it gives a superb effect like silk, like smoke between the stones.
I like it very much.
Cheers

Hi John,
I like this type of long-exposure waterfall photos, if it's done well, the result will be brilliant. Like this one. Water's almost like mist, the way it should here be. Congrats and tfs, best regards, László

It's fantastic! That convince of the utility of a good tripod even if i let mine at home... Precision into the rock and i enjoy the way it's play with water and semi reflection... And the water itself... Vaporous... Impressive!

Well done long exposure, John. I've been experimenting with it but up to now produced only flops. Good reason to keep doing it!
