[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This bagpiper is playing the American national anthem on his bagpipes in rememberance of those who died in the Battle of Midway June 4-7 1942, this was taken yesterday on the USS Wisconsin.

PS7 Note
-----------------------------------------------
-I cropped the image
-rotated it slightly to line up the flag pole with side of the pictures edge
-cleaned some water spots off using the clone stamp
-dodged in parts of his kilt and his right hand

Wonderful low angle. It creates a feeling of pride in what he is doing. Very nice colors. Very good composition with the flag shown echoing the design of the kilt. Excellent.

Dave, The composition is wonderful. The flowing of "Old Glory," the purposful stare of the bag-piper, the angle, everything! Nicely done! God's best, Tim

Hello Dave, I like this shot, the perspective is a very powerful one, especially considering what was being played and the American flag flying above.
The clouds above also add great impact to the image, this is really a great shot, thanks for sharing it with us Dave.
Well done.

Great angle Dave. I really like thse low angles. I thimk the low angle suits it very well since it gives us this perspective of the flag. I wish the wheater woudl have been nicer to you though, and given you a really blue sky with intresting cloud fomrations ;) Not to much though since the clouds also works as a nice baground here which makes the subject stand out.

Composition is perfect and interesting, great flag motion, well done Dave!

A well performed composition, Dave, and well chosen angle, honoring the most important WW2 battle in the Pacific Ocean. The turning-point of the war against Japan! Great job - well done!

Wow, what a powerful shot, the low angle really creates a sense of strength, plus the flag floating shape is wonderfully caught, like sheltering the guy's silhouette, it provides a strong "patriotic" feel (no negative critic about that).

A bit lower and you could check whether he wore the kilt the traditional way.. ;-))))

great composition, Dave.
the flag beautifully caught aligned with the frame is just excellent. the guy looks a bit too dark, and i loose the details of the pipe.

(yes... at pity you weren´t placed lower... with this wind... :-))))))))

I love your viewpoint on this shot! Besides, I wouldn't have wanted to see what was under his kilt, especially with that wind you were battling!! Excellent job in your composition and your style is quite unique.

I like your perspective in this photo. Very nicely captured.

Very nice viewpoint!

Another really nice one Louie. Funny, I was the video guy for this job, and I thought I got some great shots. But I guess that's the boon of video. One great video shot is just part of an overall prodution. I like the stop action on the ensign. I think it helps in framing the subject. TFS!

Great POV and very symbolic picture. I knew he was playing the US anthem immediately I saw it . I think its a perfect patriotic shot which would keep its strength and impact forever (I've made a workshop to illustrate it).

this is beautiful and inspiring. wonderful composition. regards, ck
