Yesterday was the first day I had time to pick up a camera in a while

I took a couple of bottles of wine to the pumpkin display outside the grocery store. A friend saw what I was doing and joined me. Then he cringed, worried that I might drop the bottles (two very nice wines, BTW).
I tried various arrangements, piling the pumpkins up high enough to block off the window behind the display. I wiped the big squashes down with a wet cloth to remove some of the dirt each time, coincidentally adding a slight sheen to them. I wasn't happy with most of them and then tried this one.
I perched them very precariously on the outside edge of the display and propped them so they were holding each other up. Then I held the camera over my head and took careful aim. I considered cloning out my reflection, but decided that for TL purposes, it worked okay :)

Tech: Captured in raw and adjusted levels, contrast & saturation in raw with PhotoShop CS2, converted to jpg, cropped slightly from sides and base, resized, sharpened, framed and signed

Thanks for looking and for all your critiques, workshops and suggestions. I should be back on TL for full participation one week from today, when I have a computer back and have written my final exam. Please forgive me until then. Have a healthy, happy, and safe weekend.

Now, I gotta take Linda to the hospital...

Silke ....pumpkin and wine!!!! I didn't know they go so well together LOL
I like the color contrast between the two elements, and your setup for this looks great, very clear detail in this, I can almost read the bottom line on the bottle to the right.

I see Linda will have to be careful if this is just what a photo will do ..lol

Very nice, I was trying to think of an "under the influence" shot, glad I didn't, this one's great.
The bottles of wine against the pumpkins and lit up as they are here are perfect.
Wonderfully sharp and well composed and an original idea to boot.
TFS,
Wilt

Nice simple compo here Silke, good strong colour too.

I think I'd rotate the bottles a little inwards to get the labels into the darker part (just a little) - 'cos the labels are a little washed out, but of course we only pick these things up after we've done the shots. I really have to force myself to take a longer look around the viewfinder to make sure I've not missed anything... I usually still do!

Nice shot for the theme - I like the idea.

hi silke, neat shot, fine details and colors, good arrangement here, i can see you reflection in the bottles!

You effort is appreciated - you got it just right. I think you are sort of visable in the reflection on the bottles. Good addition to the theme.

Dan

Hi Silke,
So you are quite busy nowadays. Excellent job you did here, great sharpness and the reflections in the bottles are wonderful and makes it an interesting view. A fine posting for today my dear.

The strong point is as far I'm concerned the sharpeness, I like very much those pumpkins color and the textute of those.

I see - you picked up the camera and the bottles of wine. Then the bottle opener, and picked up some glasses too??? And then went back to studying...
Nicely composed Silke. And I can see you in both bottles.

Hello Silke !

Me too I took my camera only a few times in Spetember. Finally I am on vacation. ( Martine not , but will take Wednesday and Thursday off )

So have a nice week off too (^_^)

Interesting add concept to promote thes autumn wines. Funny to see your reflections on the bottle necks with your arms really extended due to the distortion. Neat and clean.

I find the composition a bit too tight and centered although. But this is only MHO (^_^).

CHEEEEEEERS!
Robert

Hi Silke,

Beautiful composition . .
Great lighting by utilizing the available light . .
Sharp image . .
Is that you on the reflection of bottle?

Happy week end

Hi Silke,
I really like the way you composed this shot. I like the creativity you used especially in holding the camera over your head. The detail here is very nice. Great shot Silke.

Hi Silke

Good repetition of the diagonal pumpkins, & nice symmetry of the 2 wine bottles. Wonderful colour & sharpness, with a superb diffused light. Tfs!

I have yet to try some of the very good wines this island has to offer, I must. An excellent image for the theme Silke, good work on negating the shine on the pumpkins and the detail and light on the bottles (reflection included)nice and clear,
David

Hello Silke, very nice 'nature morte' shot, very well composed and shot with a very good technique, very well done, thanks!

Mario

Hi Silke, great idea, fantastic composition, splendid sharpness, I like a drink with you:), very well done, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Hello Silke

I bet it was good to find a few moments to pick up your camera and I am pleased you were able to join in the theme this week. A very nicely balanced shot here, good sharp detail and an original idea for the background to the booze.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen

Sorry for the delayed visit

Original experiment. Nice colours too. Greta idea, well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

Beautiful the contrast an dsuper the composition
Bravo i like this posting
Réal.

Hi Silke, I have admired your wine bottle photos for some time. Having tried it and not really succeeded in geting the clarity and 3-D effect you get, this is inspiring. Good set up and well cropped. TFS. Murray.

Hello Silke,

I enjoyed reading this!
I could just imagine the amusement as you displayed your wine on the pumpkin display!!

A fine, needle-sharp shot. The details are excellent and the reflection in the bottle adds not only interest but also depth.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

I will steal the Pinot Noir away from you....

Indeed I can understandhatour friend was scared; it was the first thing I thought when looking at this picture - be aware of those bottles, they can fall any minute.
The second thing I thought was that it's a perfect picture.

To answer your ? about the reflection -it's fun seeing you with both arms in the air taking this picture and the sky reflection isn't too bad either.

TFS
Els

Hello neighbor! :)
For one thing it's good that you didn't take the picture after opening the bottles, the results, let's say, would've been different and quite interesting! :)))
One more special thing about this shot is that we get to see you twice, reflected on the bottles. I say, I kind of feel "under the influence" when I think of it! :)))
Really well thought of, Silke, the solid, matte, orange color of the pumpkins matches perfectly the shiny black of the bottles.
Best regards,
Diana

Nicely arranged. perfect shot. great precision. T>Y> Love . Janos
