Hi
This is a follow on from my previous image, which I feel i'm getting closer to the look/atmosphere i'm trying to achieve.
The reason for the title is that when I was there taking the photos I just got this strange eerie feeling that something terrible had happened, of course it could be that the people whom lived their decided to just up sticks and leave, but I could'nt help getting that strange feeling, which is what i'm trying to convey in the post processing.

PP resized, mono via channels, red = 200% blue - 100%, resharpened, a little colour added via variations and finally a border and title.
I realise that it is blown out in places, it was my intention as the high key contrasty effect is what i've learnt is whats needed to achieve the look, however, I feel i've got along way to go.

Hi Dean!
Long time no see!
This looks straight out of a "outer limits" or "twilight zone".
the dark sky falling from the top gives me the spooky feeling like this isn't Earth. The shadow from the bush gives a sense that the spaceship has just landed behind us. I expect to hear "Take me to your leader!".
I agree with the overexposure helping with the high key contrasty effect, the totally black areas of the windows help create this effect as well!
Hope you and the family are doing well.
Scott

Wow, this is a dramatic image Dean! I agree with Scott that it definitely has an "Outer Limits" look to it. In fact, my first impression, because of the reddish duotone and high key treatment, was of a nuclear blast.

I'm finding myself continually scrolling back up to look at this photo, having a visceral reaction to it every time, and examining it further. This is powerful stuff - good work!

Well, look what the cat dragged in! How you doing, fella??

This stands out well in the gallery and somehow reminds me of the movie "Pitch Black", it has that other-worldly colour quality to it. You put it well when you say it has a "strange eerie feeling that something terrible had happened" here. Did you have a good old rummage about??

Composition and subject matter work well but it's the colour treatment that makes it for me. Nice shot and hope you stick around :-)

Hi Dean, nice to see you back..wondered where you got to..My first thoughts when I looked at this was...looks like some old place in the countryside here in New Zealand...some people actually live in places like this..lol. my second thought was, did you have a look around,. cos thats the first thing I would do, have a nosey in the windows..I see Kilted asked that!

Interesting to read your notes with regard to changing channel percentages.. it does give that effect that some sort of nasty thing has passed through the area..and killed off human life!..so you have achieved the look that you have felt here...amazing...I do like the tones. well done.

Cheers
Dawn

Hey, welcome back!

This does have an IR look to it I think.

I like it! Very sharp.

I like the hard light. Looks like a nuke is going off to the right or some other horrible thing happening.
