[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken at the Grand Canyon, having taken quite a lot of images here last year I decided to look at things there in a little closer detail. I loved the way this dead Joshua tree was reaching out to the sky, I metered from the light in the foreground to keep the beautiful striking deep blue sky as a nice backdrop.

PP resized, resharpened, title and border.

Thanks for looking.

Hello Dean.

I like the unusual composition here , although I find theJoshua tree is overexposed. perhaps 1/3 or 2/3 exposition compensation would have been better in my humble opinion.

Cool framing work!
Robert

Very creative, Dean. Nicely seen, too. I love the shapes, coors and textures here. I agree with Robert that the placement of the tree seems to obscure the bg (the canyon) a bit too much. It would have been hard to decide between the wonderful sky or the wall of the canyon. But maybe if you could have gotten up a foot or two more and limited the sky to the top 1/3, or turned the camer for a vertical frame...

Great details and powerful, deep saturation in this shot Dean! Exposure is spot-on on my monitor - I wouldn't change a thing.

Lovely presentation, Dean! Fine details with natural vivid colors. I like how you framed your shot. The border is fine.

Love this Dean! The blue of the sky is absolutely amazing and I think this is a great composition.
And then there is the subject... dead wood! Really wonderful.
Funny enought subjects like this always do well on pics, even with a clouded sky.

Cheers,
Anneke
