[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
in memory of Rosy.. a little black cat with a huge heart of gold..

..she was the mother of our 2 other girls Ellie & Babs, and the grandmother of our 2 boys Licorice & Treacle.. who's beautiful mother Polly was lost to us in 1992 and was Rosy's first born kitten..

3 years ago today my wonderful girl who had been a faithful friend and companion since i was 8 years old passed away in my arms after many years of bringing so much joy into the lives of all who knew or met her and truly, along with my other beautiful kitties, saving me on a daily basis when ravaged by illness and heartbreak their sweetness and companionship were the only sparks of joy in my life... that i would literally have been lost to despair without... i could write paragraphs about this and about what a special person Rosy was... like how she would always know when i was crying wherever she was and would come running to be near me and give me kisses and cuddles to dry my tears... but the stories are endless and the space i have to write them is not... but i just want to say that i was truly blessed to know and grow up with her and all her and all my sweet babies... so this post is to remember my golden Rose...

she was truly brave and fearless with the true spirit of a kitten till the end... she had recurring breast cancer tumors removed twice as well as a tumor in her thyroid and she also had to have an eye removed when it was damaged... she was my one eyed pirate queen :-) but when the breast cancer returned once again, at 17 years of age with already so many painful operations we didn't want her to be cut open again... she deserved to spend her remaining time at home with those she loved and loved her so deeply... so when finally the tumors on her little tummy got to a point where they were poisoning her body we called the vet who came to our house to put her to rest... i was so glad it could be done this way... so she could be with me where she felt safe and happy... so i held her in my arms as they gave her an injection and ended her suffering... it was one of the most awful and painful experiences i've ever had but at the same time i was so grateful i could be there with her till the end... i still think of her and all my kitties in england every day and love and miss them so deeply... so this is for them all... i'll never forget my babies...

it's hard to remember all the details of creating this as i was hardly conscious from strong sleeping pills at the time and rather hallucinogenic! i guess the inspiration was stronger than my drousy brain and blurred vision and i did it on auto-pilot.. but if you'd like any more details just ask and i'd be happy to give what i know.. there's no more space here.. i've posted both the original photo and another version i did as workshops.. i really like that version too and might post it individually another time.. but for Rosy it had to be golden ^_^

Hi dear Ayda,

Such a lovely memorial for your dear friend... Touching indeed. It's really sad when our companions leave us alone. It feels empty when one comes home and there's nobody to greet at the door, to stare when we cook, to pay company when we are sad..
And you prepared such a lovely work to Rosy! Wonderful PP as always. very sensible note..

So sweet, Ayda. Our pets are such an important part of our lives. They exemplify such purity and everything that's good, and all the qualities that we wish we could find in people sometimes. And they are so stoic when they have bad times. You would hardly know when they're feeling bad - they just keep giving their love.

Your golden Rosy is beautiful. What a kind heart you have. :)

Ayda this is a beautifull gift to your baby,I see here all your love for her...you just touched me deeply with your words,I feel so much the same for my cats cause I lived the same close relation.

This is such a touching story about Rosy, and a great way to express your feelings with photography. I have loved and lost many cats since I was a child, and the hurt never seems to go away. I feel honoured to have been a special part of their lives. I am just happy that Fluffy, Skippy, Katie, Max and Pumpkin have joined each other and became friends again in cat heaven. Rosy is there too and am sure she is happy with her new found friends.
The golden rose is a fine tribute, and she deserves the best.

Hi Ayda, a very creative memorial image and note! I like the refreshing PP techniques applied. You must have loved your cat very much and all the things you had together, I think you still remember how she finally died in your arms like it was only yesterday.

We lost one of our cats, Zammys, some months ago, we still can't speak about it like maybe we should. We still have lots of tears, we still have them both in our harts like we see others having kids. We still miss our little guy, he was our shadow, he still -is- our biggest friend.
Some day we'll talk and write about Zammys, maybe then I'll compose, create, and finally will see the memorial I created for him. Your posting helps me just a tiny bit further to that moment, thanks Ayda.

Ayda, I prefer people to cats, but your work is just stunning, and if a cat can inspire you so much, well it achieved a lot.

I am so sad for you,Ayda! As you know I lost mine a few months ago! She was very sick and I gave her a lot of love and attention in the last three months until she quit for the cats paradise! You have all my compassion! Big hugs! Michel

You were lucky to have had her for as long as you did by the sounds of things. She definately was a fighter! You will never forget her and this is a beautiful tribute to her memory.

The sleeping pills may have actually helped here. The golden/sepia tones lead us to some type of memory, even if you didn't do this from that perspective.

BTW I have become a fan of your framing, and really should start to experiment with framing some of my own efforts. I seem to remember you mentioning a plug-in that you used to achive this. Am I wrong? If not, any chance of sending me the details?

It's a very beautiful tribute to Rosy! I had seen this one, but it didn't have this amazing and heartfely note to go with it. This is such a sad story, but one that all that share the company of these beautiful companions has to share soemehow.
The photo is quite beautiful and you've done a very elegant pp work to match it.

I have to admit I needed to swallow hard when I read about Rosies end in your arms, Ayda. I think children should grow up with pets, as they are priceless, loyal companions, but the children learn to care for them too. Unfortunately, they lead relatively short lives, so one day the moment of saying good-bye is there and then comes the hurt :(.
As for the picture, if you did this "unconsciously" then you're a natural talent for that kind of PP work! TFS these three versions... and now go, and hug Sir Bodmin for me, will you ? ;o).
