On the Shore at Sherwood Point
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
With thanks to PapaJoeHermit for the inspiration (see my critique on his posting for today), I'm adding this view from the Lake Michigan shore just below Door County's Sherwood Point Lighthouse.
Joe is quite right: It can be very difficult, in some locales, to showcase both the structure of a lighthouse AND show the water that gives the beacon context and a reason for being. Even with a wide-angle lens, the angles, point of view, and scale simply don't always play well together for us.
I came to Sherwood Point in search of the lighthouse on this near-fall day. But I was struck by the texture and beauty of the rugged shore beneath the light, which if I recall correctly, required a steep path or stairs to reach it. The extra effort, however, was well worth it. Of course, with Maine's rockbound coast in my blood, I'm a sucker for a scene such as this.
P.S. -- It's not hard to imagine why they needed a lighthouse here :) |

Ciao Jim
You show us a nice depth, where the nature
insists to life in the midst of many stones.
I absolutely love this image with these color and presentation.
Composed and captured are superb.
Nice photograph job.
Have a nice weekend,
Sergio
Hey there Jim,
I love this image, the format-vertical, the colors, and the details. However, I maybe would have left a bit more room on the bottom to have a bit of distance by the rock. As far as the rocks leading into one side of a frame, great job. Lovely place!
