Now let's go from Szentendre to the Caribbean! :)
This place might be familiar to you from JP's aka JP Candelier's gallery!
Yes, It's "El Morro" San Juan, Puerto Rico!
I've spent every Saturday here during the 7 months I was working there on a cruise-liner.
The time is '97, and that time I was just "clic-click" doing some photos of the places I've been, so I've found only this one worth posting from San Juan :)) Oh I gotta go back with my DSLR! :))
EL MORRO: This is a six-level fortress named after San Felipe del Morro. Rising 140 feet above the sea, its 18-foot-thick wall proved a formidable defense. It fell only once, in 1598, to a land assault by the Earl of Cumberland's forces. The fort is a maze of tunnels, dungeons, barracks, outposts and ramps.
El Morro is studded with small, circular sentry boxes called "garitas" that have become a national symbol. (seen on the photo!)
It has the distinction of being the largest fortification in the Caribbean and is a National Historic Site since 1949!

PP: After getting the negative out from the dust, I've tried to enhance its colours to make it look like the original view! Hope you N-joi!

Hello Tom,
Very much like your composition for this image. The coloring of the water is very serene and quite beautiful blue. Works great for the contrast against the surface texture and great earth tones of the fortress. Nice scan and again good job with the colors for it looks great. I could see maybe cropping some of the water for composition and that would put the garitas more in the upper part of the image and with a small amount of contrast added. Only a suggestion to maybe try.
Otherwise great shot!

Hi Tom, great pov and youve achieved beautiful rich colors and texture...Congrats..martha

Hi Tom!
good shot! I can just imagine how beautiful it was over there on the fortress overlooking the sea! I like the colours here very much, good job on it since it's a scanned photo. Your composition is good, I find those barely seen waves in the upper part just lovely!
regards,
M:)

Very nice detail from the El Morro fortress, captured in a very nice way. POV and angle of shot are very good and the colors magnificent!
Vassilis

Very nice POV and composition. I agree about cropping a bit of the water space on top. But its stiall avery nice shot as it stands. TFS ! :)

Awesome! That is really beautiful. the colors and lighting are great and the composition is perfect. I am glad you started posting these. You did a much better job at giving a little history about the place too. Nice job!!
I look forward to more photos from P.R.
If I see one of a subject I took, I may end up posting it too.
JP

Beautiful postcard from San Juan, ToM, and even if you were in the "click click" mode, you already had a good eye for composition. My only nit-picky comment is that you missed a tiny bit of the stair on the left...Rich colour, wonderful light and great POV looking down on the fortress. Well done!

Hi Tom,
Very nice picture. Good composition and POV. Good colors and light. Well done

Szia!
Beautiful colours, and lovely contrast (sea - stone). I like it!
Well done!
Zoil

You know how to put mood in a picture. Also this time.

Don

First of all, thank you for getting the negative out from the dust. It definately belongs in the light for people to see and enjoy :)).. and there is so much to enjoy from this photo: the colours of the sea are beatiful, the sparkle of the waves near the rocks, and the fortress looks so charming.

WELL DONE and TFS,

Shelly.

Very simple composition with lovely colours. The beige and grey stone contrasts very well with the deep blue of the sea. I like the angle of the wall which divides the photos into two odd shapes. TFS.

that's curious.. you was in a really high place..

So, U are taking me to Caribbean ToMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?! HAHHAHA hHAHH LOL! Amazing detail and again I love the colors... .:) I LOVE THE BLUE :D... The textures are clean and sharp... Good composition and a very very good POV... :) Great one.. Thanks for sharing :)

Take care...
- Hima.

Hey ToM, not bad for the only one worth posting! What stands out for me here, is how the man-made white paint touch-up has made the stonework look bad as it fades and falls off. It they'd left it natural and not tried to pretty it up, it would look a lot better.
Nice scene, good composition. Well done.
