I was hunting for something by torch light when this little beast came into sight. I'm sure it was hunting for something to eat and after my initial surprise felt that I wasn't that something. However, it was quite big enough for me to keep my distance.

Hi Stephen,
Excellent macro of this mean looking creature. I like that you have gotten in so close that we can even see the hairs on his/her legs. I have never had such a close look at one before. A Huntsman spider I believe. They grow big don't they? One bit my ex once when he tried to catch it, so beware.
Cheers,
Debbie

Scary sight! I'm not usually afraid of spiders, maybe because over here there are none like this! I might have cropped a little closer but, this distace is still comforitable. nice sharpness!
well done,
Shelby

Hi Stephen, it's not without a bit of dry humor that they say Australia's venomous species outnumber it's nonvenomous. This thing looks nasty. I'd've had my Raid out--FAST! LOL. I like them, but not in my home. TFS. It's s-s-s-s-s-scary!

Hello Stephen,

I enjoyed this shot. While out fishing I have come across some scary things but never had the camera ready! Good quality photo with the colour that he/she is. And the hairs on its legs *shivers* time to say see ya! TFS

Gosh!

Hi Stefan!

If I was in your place .. i don't know if I had the reflex to take a picture of this little friend! I would rather scream and RUNAWAY!

You are very brave, despite de fact that you kept the distance!

Congratulations, the macro quality is good!

Luci

P.S I think I won't sleep tonight !

Yikes! This just gives me the CREEPS!! I want to scream!! Which means your photo projects emotion! HAHAHA! Horrible looking creature! You are BRAVE to photograph it! I would have run for the hills.......
Linda

This is a great shot of the spider! I'm wondering how big it is!
Greg

Australia is a beautiful place and it would be great for me see it once in a lifetime.. but there is one thing that keeps me away from doing it.. you've captured the reason very well (as well as on some provious photo). When I'm thinking about all the varity of these creatures you've got there, it gives me goose skin :/
