| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Here is another picture taken at breakfast with the family last Sunday. Alexandro is my 4 year old nephew and he had just enjoyed a bowl of cereal - the food must have been good because you can see the drool around his mouth! Again, like my last post this was taken with the new 50mm f/1.8 prime lens that I have. I didn't get much of a response last time but again I'd like some tips and advice on using the new lens. If not I guess I could always just look it up on google! In photoshop I cropped (to remove the edge of Zandro's cereal bowl which was distracting), resized and increased contrast slightly. Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Roxanne
Lovely smile in this natural portrait.Only criticisms I could make regard the shine on the chair back is alittle distracting so I would either crop or clone to exclude. There is also a little shine on his forehead which might be cloned out if you wanted. Good dof with his eyes and moth in focus and his ear slightly out.

50mm lens is most useful and excellent.
I have been using CANON 50mm f1.2 for long yesrs, and it matches well my film camera and portraits like this your shot.
because the field of it is almost similar to our eye field.
anyway, you captured nice smiling face by soft lighting,
and the moment of his smiling looks very natural.
wet and opened mouth is quite child-ish.

Hi Roxanne,
The workshop works perfectly for me , you appropriately corrected those very minor distractions , compo-wise it's great , the boy' s face is well lit but the rather shallow DOF is not enough in my view i think his whole figure should be focused well defined , not too much depth though as to sharpen the bg but a 3 stop increase might do it , just my personal opinion of course , nonetheless he is a handsome little model for you ,

Nice portrait. Though I would advise to avoid open mouthed one. although action is implied it just looks awkward. The other is chewing. Lol. Anyway, the skin tone and composition is good. The bright light really is distracting. Glad you corrected it in WS. and oh love the sharpness.
