Close up showing the name of this huge cruise vessel and where it is registered. This ship was quite impressive alongside the city centre even though not as large as some other recent visitors including QM2 and others. There is discussion about moving the overseas terminal across the harbour, but this seems a good spot for these ships to berth.

Year Built: 1999 (Refurbished 2005)
Size Category: Medium (63,000 tons)
Passengers: 1,432
"Elbowroom" Factor: Spacious
Outside Cabins: 81%
Balcony Cabins: 27%
Sister Ships: Zaandam
Length: 780 feet
Width: 106 feet
Crew: 647
Registration: Netherlands

It sounds like it would be very comfortable to travel on this vessel:
Onboard Enrichment. The innovative Culinary Arts Center - a high-tech kitchen for cooking demonstrations, seminars and classes! Explorations Café combines an espresso coffee house with an Internet Café, Library and music listening room!
The Greenhouse Spa & Salon. Newly expanded and refurbished, the spa offers more treatment rooms, thermal suites, a dry-float suite - and much more!
Spaciousness. Staterooms, on average, are about 25% larger than the competition. And 25% fewer guests than comparably-sized ships means there's more spaciousness throughout.
Luxury. Every accommodation is furnished with Sealy® Euro-top mattresses, 250-count cotton bed linens; 100% Egyptian cotton towels and deluxe bathrobes.
Pinnacle Grill. Holland America's intimate, reservations-only restaurant featuring Sterling Silver beef, fresh seafood; tables set with Bvlgari® china, Riedel® stemware and Frette® linens; extensive wine list. And it's open for lunch, too!
New Youth Facilities. Big-screen TV and games; Oasis teen area with outdoor private pool, waterfall and sundeck; teen disco; expanded Club HAL hours.

Hi Murray

Good sharpness & framing, with the city highrise making a fine backdrop to the massive fg boat. Tfs!

hi Murray

I like this larger version of the vessel, imposing its size upfront. Looks like cruise boat and a really good way to enjoy travel. I see a German vessel full of tourists berthing in Borneo last month; it appears like they are coming on cruise boats, not cruise missiles :))

Very nicely captured view of the harbor front of Sydney.

tfs, bill

Hello Murray, I like this image much better than yesterdays. The close up view of the size of the ship and the skycrapers behind gives true depth of its girth. It sounds like you are ready to go aboard and cruise the world with all the info you found. Must have been that Greenhouse Spa and Salon that caught your eye...
Have A Great Weekend,
Steve

Olá, Murray!

I agree with everything that "chrisJ" and "trekks" wrote :o)
I also think that little more contrast and saturation maybe could be good, so I did a ws and really hope you like it.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing and the notes.

Best wishes,
Bruno

Hi Murray,
Excellent photo, the workshop adds alot to this shot though. Great POV and composition, looks like a great cruise ship to stay on.

TFS,
Scott.

Hello Murray
Excellent close up Of 'Our' Volendam.
Volendam is a small town (Fisher Village) in the province of North Holland, about 100 Km from Rotterdam
It is rather famous for its old fashion houses and Habour.
People are a reall community.
In Holland Volendam is also famous, cos many good Footbal players and good Singers are from Volendam.
Few year back (I forgot the year) During new years night a huge Fire accident happened in a pub. Many people died and even more where heavely injured and carry that signs for life time on their body.
Tourists from all over the world are visiting Volendam, as they think its Reall Dutch!(it was in the old days)
I never heard about this Cruise Vessel, so thanks a lot of your good note too.
Have a good weekend.
Best regards from Jan
