It's been a long break and I'm not sure whether I can actively participate as much as I used too, but I have decided to share some of my recent work.
This photograph is of my son, Rhys.
Natural light. Camera set on manual. Cropped 8x10 format and treated in black & white using b&w styler plug-in for CS3. |

Hi Kath,
You've captured a wonderful moment. Great expression and a very beautiful child. Nicely composed, TFS Julie
You've done well technically - beautiful light, good sharpness on his eyes and nice conversion into b&w as well.
In terms of expression and connection with the viewer, I'm not sure ... I think the lack of any obvious emotion, although with hints of something negative from the slightly lowered eyebrows and downturned mouth, it leaves me feeling a little uncomfortable.
As your son, it would be great (in my opinion) if he had connected with your camera and there was warmth or love or amusement in his eyes?
As I say though - technically very nice work!
