[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In my last post, it was suggested that I try using strobe (flash) lighting instead of the modeling (or constant) lighting from my soft box lights. So I had a chance yesterday to try that while taking headshots for an actress.
I've always liked the concept of covering one eye to bring immediate attention to the other one, so I've asked Thea to do that here. The background has been superimposed as it was originally shot against a plain grey/white sheet, so I think this makes it more dynamic and interesting (it is a street scene from my travels in Mumbai!).

Hey David, I really liked your concept of covering one eye as I myself believe in so.
The superimposed BG is giving a very dramatic touch to the shot. It's a lovely post!

Cheers,
Shubhi

Hi David - I'm really in two minds about this shot and it's making me think about a lot of things, and I love it when a photo has that effect on me.

I'm not sure about the centrality of the model, I think the image would be better balanced with a decent crop from the right side. And I'm not convinced about the single eye on show, it's a bit "cyclopsy" and I may have preferred more of the other eye in view.

But, having said that, I think this is an unusual portrait with good light and colour quality. And the visible eye is great, very striking indeed!

hi david, very pro looking shot with this wonderful this model captured very well indeed,
tfs,
scott

Hi David
Very nice

**MAB**

Very theatrical subject. The eye is dramatic and the pale translucence of the skin gives the girl a mysterious air.

Hi David:

I can't feel it. With one eye staring at me. I want two =P.
Oh and in addition, I feel the hand covering the eye seems awkward. Can't put my finger on it. But it looks that she is not comfortable with it. I dunno. Although the exposed eye is excellent. Your work on the BG too. Just the hand with its awkwardness feel on me. And again, that's just me.

Cheers!

I'd say it is very successful. The soft key light, with harder light from image left enhances this beautiful model's features. The ambient light in your background image concurs with the studio lighting to create a coherent mood.
Very nicely done!

Hello David.

Extraordinary AGAIN! :-) Such defined portrait of this beautiful woman, yet so gentle areas of her face and hands. Background gives dreamy atmosphere overall!

Great work!

Sincerely,
David

I would not change a thing. Wonderfull shot. I'm impress and believe me it takes a lot to do so...))) Excellent PP work and Beautiful post.

P.S. Slight bluish and (magenta) cast visible on the clothing, but easily corrected by adding a touch of red and green.

very nice shot, but I have a feeling of something missing in this portrait although I think it looks dynamic...especially the exposed eye....perhaps both eyes seen is better for me, anyway its just me.

Hello David!
Din nou o poza de nota zece!
Perfect lucrata!
Dragut modelul! Superbi ochi!
Salutari si numai bine!
Lili

Wonderful portrait shot - nice PP work to create the interesting background (although a slight halo effect around the models shoulder on the left side of the frame) and I think the pose adds a little intrigue and mystery. Being able to see one eye in clarity and one partially hidden definately draws the viewer into the picture.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Vraiment magnifique!
La lumière, le sujet, tout est parfait!
