[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
An Australian family portrait I took last month.
I've noticed it can be quite effective to have people in the photo all focusing on one person (usually a child) so I tried that here. It's also important to show connectivity in the family so asked everyone to get in close and touch each other.
While the original was taken outside in their garden, I decided I could do better with the background - and ended up selecting around them and compositing them onto a new background - a shot of the rainforest I took in Borneo! I blurred it somewhat, to hopefully get a technically accurate picture.

Well, I am going to risk being honest and say that, while I was impressed with your last, uhm, many posts, I am not so impressed with this one. It is quite original in as much as it doesn't present all embers of the family smiling straight into the camera, but it lacks the visual appeal of your other images. The diagonal works well, the little boy in the center attracts the view a bit, but the faces turned away from the camera let my eye glide over the image in search of more to look at. The colors are a bit washed out and enhance the overall impression. Hope you don't mind an honest opinion. The replacement of the background worked out very well, my untrained eye can’t notice any flaws even now that I know it’s a collage.

People in the photo all focusing
on one person, those are all in focus and every face is well lit and bright.
My regards and prayer for the family..

Muhammad.

I like it! I think it's warm and loving and the bg looks great. Everyone giving their attention to the baby :) and since I'm the 'baby' of my family, I think that's a great place to concentrate :) :) I enjoy all of the expressions. TFS
