Most gardeners are familiar with water lilies, from Monet’s paintings of the water lilies grown in his remarkable garden in Giverny. They're part of the western tradition of gardening but lotuses are entirely different. We're familiar with them from Chinese paintings.

The difference between water lilies and lotuses - the leaves of the water lily sit on the water, the lotus rises and its leaves sit up to four feet above the water.

BEautiful with great details water lily. Though the yellow leaf on the left top a little distracting for me, it just a minor :)

Hi Jeanne, nice composition with the lily slightly left of centre. Pin sharp detail with the background leaves slighly out of focus. Nice bold colours. Well done.

Wow...this a superbs capture of the water lily. Very lovely colours with brilliant sharpness. The glowing inner just simply exciting and splendid.
The leaves give a nice colour contrast and the still water pronounced the BG very well.
