Vlad (pozaru) quite often drops hints about me converting some of my fog images to black and white, the most recent when I loaded Autumn Fog II with the comment ‘Superb! Monochrome?’

This one for you Vlad, taken the same day as the one I linked above, in the workshop a coloured version and the original from camera image.

wow, just for me !
Thanks a lot dear David !
Your fog pictures are extremely beautiful regardless their colors. The atmosphere captured is the main issue.
I love them, you know ...

have a wonderful week,
v
ps.See WS, for my interpretation

Hi David,

Vlad is probably right - the pictures of the Fog-series are very suitable to convert in B&W,
I am not especially fond of B&W but it makes it here sort of stronger/more elegant - well it adds a certain extra/"je ne sais quoi"...

TFS
Have a good week,

Els

Hi David

This, like it's sister (or brother if you prefer) is a beautiful image and done with your usual mastery of fog shots.
Having said that, however, the magic, for me, of your normal foggy shots is how you bring out of the fog a slight, soft, touch of color and that's missing in this conversion.
Takes nothing away from the technical excellence but as a trial, for me, the muted colors moderating and otherwise mainly B&W image doesn't quite make it.
TFS,
Wilt

Hi David,
That monochrome presentation create a paradox in time with that modern catamaran and the out of age b&w presentation. It give a very smooth look. Maybe I should try it on some of mine... TFS,
Ivan

I love black and white, my friend of many faces, but for this image I love the coloured version that is residing on my wall. As you already know how much I love it there is not much I can add.
Warmest Regards
Wanda

Hello David,
This is most attractive pier scene. Well composed with good details. The monochrome appears to suit this image well. I must admit that I went on a photoshoot yesterday at a local harbor. Unfortunately the fog lifted before I can park my car; nonetheless, I was able to take a few pics and will post them someday. Danilo

Bom dia sailor man
This photo is little different for me... because I have a close up of your wonderful boat... fog is there but the main interess for me is the many details of this boat... and that i still share.
Have anice day with your friend sea.
My regards
Teresat

hi David

Both versions of B&W and sepia give different mood for this foggy atmosphere although I find sepia version slightly better, I still prefer the natural color.

tfs, bill

Hello David,an interesting shot but for me, the colour version has to win;it is the soft effect, the subtle colours and the guessing of what the shapes in the fog represent.
The b&w seems to lose 'atmosphere' for me.
Thanks for sharing.
Regards Jean.

Hi Dave,
Very nice B&W. Two suggestions, I would increase the contrast. Then I would crop off the tall masts alltogether as you don't have the complete masts in the picture anyway.

Hi David, I like this very much. Your trademark foggy waterways and yachts are always special to see. This tighter crop than usual is excellent. TFS. Murray.

Beautiful tight close of this boat, in the other picture you

and your fog always framing your post!
congratulations!

This is really nice work David! Smooth as glass! A super BW shot and you did a great job keeping the moire' lines out of it! I really like this one alot, much better than the other horizontal one!

Hello David
I saw the workshops for that one and I must say that your version "from the camera" is quite moody despite the detail loss that you corrected here.
The foggy grey day remains very evident despite the contrast boost on this one.
Have a g'day.

That guy must be in a hurry :) excellent work David, well presented.. thanks
