Taken from Kings Park looking across the Tamar towards the hillside suburb of Trevallyn, one of those days in April when the smoke haze from various burn offs in the area was at its worst. The wall in the middle of the image is a levee designed to divert flood waters from the Cataract Gorge into the Tamar Estuary.

I've never known anyone yet who doesn't suffer a certain restlessness when autumn rolls around. We're all eight years old again and anything is possible ~ Sue Grafton

Yes, there is quite a smoky look to the houses on the hill. Not good for the health. . .
But it looks like a lovely sunny spot to live David - facing north or north-east - maybe. Pleasant scene using the trees as a natural frame - TFS

David,
This is a wonderfully composed picture. I really like the town nestled into the hillside. The tress on both sides of the pic. acting as a natural frame for this scenic view is very nice. Great work.

Kevin

Hello David

a beautiful look of your Autumn
I see that you have good time in this season,
ours here is with a lot of rain and cold.
Beautiful angle and beautiful capture.
Little by little I am going knowing the whole Tamar!
Greetings!

Sérgio

Bom dia David

Beautiful composition. I like how you captured the colors of the foreground as well as the ones on the background, different moods. TFS

Hello David,
Great POV and a beautiful photo very well composed with a great difuse light.
Congrats, mb

Hi, David,
My eye was immediately caught by the title of the image as the river's name sounds similarly to my mum's-Tamara.
A nice peep through the trees and I like the houses perched on the slopy bank.
It must be a nice place.

Very nicely taken, I like the framing with the trees in the fg. TFS and have a great day!

Hi David,
Nice framing using the trees. Good depth and contrast. You can possibly take the smoke as fog to make it sound more environmentally friendly :) Well captured and presented. Tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Beautiful capture.
Excellent sharpness and details.
Lovely view but I would've cloned out the lamp in the center.
But that's just me :-).

The foreground trees make for the perfect framing and presentation for the smoky background image. Nice feel to the whole thing.
Nice work.

Excellent work here David! LOVE the view! Great colors and I like the peek through the trees on this one!

Hi David,
A fine panoramic view of Launceston. The bushes at the left and right side create a nice natural frame. An atractive picture my friend!
Hans

Hi David,

The view is beautiful but I know the smoke was not for you. However for the picture it does work judging from that pinkish band in the sky.
Hope it is not too cold right now - but you can dress against cold and not against air pollution.

Hello David,

Your chosen viewpoint, creating a thick luxuriant green border is the striking feature. Then the eyes are drawn towards the misty, rising hillside with its melee of red roofed buildings and accompanying trees.

I really like the contrast between the bright f/g and the hazy b/g.

kind regards, my friend,
Bev :-)

Hi dear friend,
lovely view with nice tones.
Good angle of shot.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Best wishes,
Ioana

Hello David,

A fine autumn mood has been captured, and the view to Trevallyn is well framed by the vegetation in front!
The great light renders fine colours even if the red and yellow autumn isn't that much present...
A nice sense of depth in the frame!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello David

I like how you used the trees to frame this photo and add depth to the view towards the houses on the other side of the river. Very good colour and light in spite of the haze from the smoke.

Hello David
The Tasmanian fog depicts much charm on the colourful hillside that is set like a jewel in the abundant front greenery!
Have a g'day.
