After filling the wood box and attempting to thaw out in front of the fire I thought I could possibly create something from the flames. Perhaps not as abstract as it should be but it was taken indoors and it does contain warm colours, a from camera resized version in the workshop.

Hi David,

Imagine that, having to thow out in fromt of a fire - pff, give me some ice cubes - it's hot here.

What a lovely warm feeling you have created - you had to stick to the assignment to create an abstract feel - but that original sure looks very appealing as well.

Oh yes, this looks good Dave. I also did a trial version using the same filter on one of my photos today. It's like the Stained Glass effect in CS2.
I like the colours here too.
Well done
Janice

Hello David,

I thought about photographing a fire but for the last few days I have had a plumber in re-doing all the heating in the house. He has just finished and we now have a gas heater with a log effect. It looks absolutely super!

Anyway, back to your shot, the texture effect is very interesting and something that is rarely attempted. It gives the impression of having a mosaic fire! I like the different tones of the tiles which tou can easily study in this format.
(Sorry, David, I wouldn't want to swap our lovely warm temperature for your freezing one! We have had to wait a long time for these sunny days!)

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
(Can you tell I'm retired! I seem to have more time to waffle!)

The texturing has created something very interesting here -- a little like a delicate mosaic on an ancient wall. Clever and great PP work

I think you got it, really makes for an interesting view of the hot coals and the fire as well.
Nice job,

Hi David!
OK, here is the next project: find rocks and/or colored clay shards and create a wall size mosaic from this! Why should only I be the crazy one (I started one in the basement which will probably never get finished....)

It is definitely under my definition of warm, my friend of many faces. Fire came to mind for me as well when I thought of the theme. I like how you have interpreted yours and the filters you choose to use. The colours are really quite warm indeed with that filter too. Well done and very artistic.
Warmest Regards

Lovely warming winter colours, which we certainly need at the moment.

Hello David, I have kept coming back to this one, and every time that I do, I get more from it.
It reminds me of some type of needlework, tapestry or something similar.
I like the areas where the flames and the burning wood show their warm colours.
This theme has certainly created some interesting shots.
Very good pp work.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi David, Ideal creative work for TL. I like the glow and the patterns on the front. Ideal for wintery months. TFS. Murray.

Despite the filters it's still a very recognisable subject, David. But a warm one indeed. And... I like it better than the original. In my experience it's not really easy to take a good shot of glowing charcoal. I tried it several times, the results are never what I expected. Next time, I'm gonna use fill flash. See where that takes me.
The stained glass filter does create a nice pattern.

Hello David
This grid in front of your fireplace looks quite safe as no brand can get through it!
Cleverly executed to simulate the real protection and of course, so attractive.
Sorry my friend, I don't understand the meaning of your lower sentence for my posting Colorado River.
Kindest regards.
Robert
