[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Well, not strictly a macro shot. It was taken with my 'old' Nikon D70 and the kit-lens and a plus 4 magnifier. It was a hard day’s night, and I’ve been lying on my belly following bees around the garden.
Honey bees are much under valued. If there were no bees, there would simply be no food for us to eat. Bees have a working life expectancy of approximately 6 weeks depending on the severity of the weather. In cold and windy periods it is less. Unless meeting some other cause of death, like your windscreen or toxic chemicals, predators or defending their hives, bees work themselves to death. Much like I would have done, if I had not retired.

Hand held! A small amount of cropping and some contrast enhancement in Photoshop.

I'm generally a morning person so I miss out on you folkswho post in my evening. But I didn't miss this one - good job hand holding this camera and lens - all that much more special. I've got one of those set up too.

Hello Helmut
The lighting is good here, showing up the colours of the grape hyacinth flower and even the hairs of the bee.
It's quite a wonderful shot - well done
