After some rather un-spring like weather so far this month today was pleasant enough to venture out and try and find something for this week’s theme. The scene the St Leonards picnic ground and one of the tables situated under a large willow tree.

Hi David

Love all the shades of green here. Great DOV.
It looks like a lovely place for a picnic.

Regards
Tracey

Nice shot

A very nice place to take a rest in the shade. Great idea for the theme.

Looks like difficult conditions with to get details in the shadows. Maybe a little bit over exposed. Some of the grass in the foreground looks a little bit washed out.

I think maybe a composition with less of the grass in the foreground and moving the table towards the bottom left corner would be nice.

Cheers,
Jens

Hi David
Wonderful capture and perspective

Have a nice days

Hi David,
A lovely capture. Nice green coloring and perfect for the theme. In U.S. we call these "weeping willows" TFS Julie

Hello David,

I'm glad to read that you are feeling well enough to venture out.
This was a fine scene to capture!
It looks as if the curtain is just rising on a rustic play! I love the way you have incorporated an interesting mixture of horizontal and vertical lines along with a mixed palette of greens.
Good composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

What a good idea for under, my friend of many faces. I love the shadows and highlights here. You have captured the feeling of the almost spring. The various shades of green contrast nicely with the wood of the tree trunks and bench. Well done.
Warmest Regards
Wanda

That seems like the perfect place for a picknick table.

Hi David,

Good to hear you could enjoy being outside in the spring weather.
Lovely picture with the branches creating a sheltered spot for the table.

Impressive moody photo! The willows keep the viewer's eye in the frame. The light and shadow give good perspective too!Good composition!

hello David,
This is very pleasant. I could imagine sitting under that great big, sweeping tree.
Lovely greens, tones, light and shadow in a well composed shot.
My compliments.

Hi David,
A fine peaceful place you've captured here. Must be a great place to relax. A fine composition with the bench and the willow. Maybe a tad more contrast and saturation might improve it, but that's just me. A fine contribution to the theme my friend!
Hans

Under the Willows - the leaves have appeared quickly Dave.
Very pleasant scene and it must be a popular spot in the heat of summer,

nice composition. good lighting.
looks quite for a nice day.
well done.

Pity, nobody took advantage of this good weather and had a picnic ;) good clean shot David, partially cropped tree on left could have been left out though.. thanks

Beautiful spot, beautiful shot. I love your choice of crop of the willow to create a kind of gradient across the top 1/3rd of the frame, drawing attention in to the bench and the patches of sunlight.
Beautiful

A poignant scene, suggesting isolation but yet promise, and an invitation to discover the pleasantness of spending some time under a weeping willow tree on a sunny day. I like the use of space and proportions in the composition, although I think the partial tree at the left edge pulls the eye away from the center of interest. The colors are soft and natural from the light, conveying the mood nicely. Good one for the theme!

finaly i can open your picture, David.. its so hard to open and critique i think the connection to tl is very slow and have problem..

very cosy place to sit under the willow.. you know what i think? picnic.. :) very original.. cool place to hang out.. beautiful shot and composition.. excellent contribution to the theme.. tfs..

regards, terry

good eyes DAVID, sharp and detailed, but in my humble opinion the picture has a lot of potential.the foreground lacks impact because it is empty, you should have included more of the trees, say 2/3 of the frame leaving the open grass a third.but thats my taste only.TFS.
regards...................andres

Looks very relaxing, love the thirds here, would love to have a deer in here, preferably a 12 point buck! LOL...no just kidding! Nice work David!

Hi David,
This fits the them well and has a very nice feel to it. I like the composition and PoV but--and it's interesting, to me anyway, that I'm struggling with a picture I took of a similar type of scene in Central Park, NY, that suffers from the same, seeming, mix of slight OE and muted greens--it seems a bit flat on the color side of things, and a bit light on the luminance side.
It's a pretty shot but seems, as has been already said, slightly washed out. If that is an artistic choice you made, then so be it, I just wish this wonderful scene had a tad more "pop" to it.
TFS,
Wilt

I definitely agree with Hans and Wilt on this image - it seems a little lacklustre to me.. I think a little more contrast and saturation would be very good with this one.

DAvid

I like the way you cropped the willow so that it looks like a rising curtain. Let the show begin and let the physical aids be consumed in moderation.

Hello David

A lovely capture here nice sharp detail and good natural colours. The hanging branches at the top of the shot frame the subject well and make me feel like I am looking on through a long fringe.

TFS and for joining in the theme

Hi David, Willows are some of the most beautiful trees in many places. Usually near water they enhance the environment well. Well cropped proviiding a pleasing result. TFS. Murray.

Hi David,
Sorry to take so long, but TL kept crashing on me last night...so I gave up.
I like the peaceful mood this creates, it would be a welcome spot on a hot day.
Cheers,
Pete.

Hi David,
The drooping foliage of the willow is most elegant in this composition. The bench completes the quiet spring scene, lovely subtle greens, and effective exposure. My compliments...Danilo

Hello David
I can perceive whiter areas on grass, so it's a nice place for a morning walk with the dog to hear the sound of frosted grass breaking under one's feet!
A pleasant and refreshing scenery and the ideal hideout for kids to climb to!!

hello David

Willow trees are strongest in the wind. So be strong!

I just read the forum and message from Sandy. I wish you speedy recovery, get well soon and come back to TL for your foggy posts.

tfs, bill

Hi David,
I echo Bill's words! I hope you are able to get up and get moving again real soon.
I hope you have a VERY speedy recovery.
Talk to you soon,
Scott

The photo:
I like how the willow branches act as a curtain and the different light and shadows on the ground seem to make separate layers. The off centered picnic table sets this photo off nicely.
Well done my friend!
