Hi David,
Special photo for the Friday Theme, good POV of the tree and the forest.
It's interesting to see the outer layers of the trunk. Useful note about native Australians. Great presentation of 'Dream'.

It amazes me how the eucalyptus can survive when they shed all their bark each year.

'Dreamtime' has lovely connitations!I like the idea of adreamlike state, before the world took on its present form.

Your lovely, sharp image portrays a feeling of wildness, away from modern times.
I like the composition where the focus is on the heart of the tree.

First of all I am sure you will find strengths to recover I am sure you are strong man who knows to fight with illness (I would love to give you my extra weight...freely and very gladly ;))

Now picture: I like your idea and title,you show to us one world which need to be discovered (In my imagination look like totally unknown area )..Very clear,and sharp with good light and colors...and it look like perfect place for dreaming :))

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream ~ C.S. Lewis - I love that :))

Some of these gums trees are always losing their bark - quite interesting to see how it just peels off the trunk like this Dave.
Interesting website to read too.

A very striking photo David..seeing that bark falling from the tree trunk..in the bush that the Aborigine may have lived in... interesting to read your link to.

Yes, that I knew "Dreamtime" - it is terrible to say but I probably did hear it in the film Crocodile Dundee ^-^.

Hello David,

Interesting title and image. I'm thinking that that is a eucalyptus tree, which we have an over abundance of here in California.

Anyway, I like the way the bark is stripping away from the tree and the contrasts in texture that that creates in the image. Interesting how nature has a way of cycling itself. Nice nature shot.

i would not know the connection if not for your note.. very informative.. and i like beautiful tree shot.. is this true what Pete said the tree is eucalyptus? must be smell very good from a mile.. of all the rubbing oils i only like that one.. nice shot of the tree too..

Hi David,
The stripped bark must have lots of symbolism and dreamlike representation for you David. Hang in there David. About 20 lbs is about the same weight that I lost during my bout with TB but I have gained it all back. I am confident your strenghth will also be back in no time with plenty of rest and nutritious food. My best regards. Danilo

without reading the note, I wouldnt have thought much about the image...the note puts everything in perspective.
Great pic!
Also illustrates the point about the importance of adding a note which a sizeable chunk of TLensers still refuse to do.

Intense capture, very sharp and strong.
I explain the term «intense»: there was a great portuguese writer that, when very sick, wrote about the intense and long life of the trees, something that I will try to translate: «...if was not the habit, the simple vision of one tree would kill me». His name is Raul Brandão.
For some reason your photo remind me him, hope you forgive me.

When I see the striptease of trees I imagine the indigenous using the long fibres of bark to weave some kind of skirts for themselves.

It's also a time that cannot be expressed in linear terms. Entering dream time is like entering a different universe that nevertheless is intrinsically connected to our everyday world. The connection between the eucalyptus tree and the aborigines spirit world is implied (didgeroos are made from hollow eucalyptus)
